ACN | Chapter 1

Chapter 1 : The Project

      The classroom was loud and noisy, just like it was every Monday morning. I walked up to my specific seat in the right corner to the front and sat down beside my best friend Malia since Junior High.

“The new guy is cute” smirk my best friend

“So” I said as I open my language book

“Look he’s staring at us” said my best friend looking to the back of the class.

I wasn’t in the mood for admiring new guys or even goggling over them. I had a hard time sleeping last night. Malia was the type who falls for any guy and was in a relationship with Mantel my cousin.

“Ok class as you know your end of term projects will be given out today and been done in groups of two” said Ms. Brent skipping through her register.

“Yea, I’m teaming up with you” squeal Malia. I smiled at her, hoping that we get partnered together. I was not in the mood for a new partner. As I glance at Ms. Brent calling names.

“Malia Tanker…”

“Please be Sonora” she mouthed with her eyes closed and fingers crossed

“Malia Tanker and Josh Parker” said Ms. Brent

“RRrrrr…” she muttered

“Hello Beautiful” said Josh close to Malia ears

“If you breathe on me one more time I’ll stuff those words back up down your throat” said Malia as I watch Josh slowly backed away.

“Sonora Jackson and Dervin Haughton” said Ms. Brent

“Your partner with the New Guy” said my best friend. I quickly glance to where Dervin was sitting staring at us.

“You got to be kidding me” I said

“What!”

“You must be happy to be partner with the new hot guy” said my best friend smiling

“He maybe hot but is personality is dirt” I said

“I want a new partner” I said about to get up when I saw him storm up to the front. I quickly got up and walked up where he was standing up.

“I don’t want to be partner with her” he said

“I don’t want to either” I said butting in

“I’m sorry; Dervin if you want to remain at this school and get your grade up Sonora is the perfect person to work with so suck it up and work with her” said Ms. Brent

“Ms. Brent pleases” I pleaded

“Sonora, Dervin will do well with your help” she said with a smile

“So why don’t you greet each other proper”

“We’ve met and I’m not very fond of her nerdy attitude” he said and walked off and I walk off to my seat.

“How did it go?” asked my best friend

“What do you think?” I spat out at her as the bell rang. I picked up my book and collect our portfolio from Ms. Brent and walked out with Malia.

The rest of the school hour went by swiftly and it was time to hit study hour so I walked quietly into the library. Malia have left early since she has planned to meet Josh at his house to discuss their project. I thought I’ll go to the library to study since I had no luck in finding this Dervin Guy. He disgust me his attitude and personality. I agree with Malia he was cute but his personality wasn’t. Why the hell was I judging, I never judge people at first sight I don’t know why I was judging him. Well he seems to be a piece of work.

I settle down at the table at the empty as I took put my books and started to go over my notes and make my new vocabulary list for the week.  I started to read when I felt some one present beside me. I glance I saw him beside me in a blue hoodie sinking in the chair practically hiding his face.

“Can I get my project!” he blurted out

“Excuse me” I blurted back

“I’m not in the mood of chatting can I just get my portfolio and leave” he said

“Where supposed to be doing it together” I said closing my books and send them on top of one another. He didn’t say anything

“Why don’t you give me the freaking project” he said grabbing onto my arm

“Let go off my arm” I shouted

“Ms. Jackson” said the librarian. I looked her way and smile

“What the hell is wrong with you?” I said

“Nothing just gives me the damn thing”

“Well for your information, I won’t be giving it to you until you learn how to speak to people” I said picking up my books.

“And if and when you decide to you can meet me at Luke tomorrow after school where we will discuss what we do” I said and walk off

“Well I won’t be able to” he blurted out

“Well good whenever you’re ready I am ready” I said and walk off.
