Zack had seen the gang go into Lucy's room after Lucy had fainted at the dance rehearsals. Michael had been at the front carrying Lucy in his arms, with Nick watching him closely. They had been in there for a while, and Zack had heard some weird chants coming from them. Eventually they had stopped, and when he walked down the stairs to see why he saw Nick bent over Lucy in an awkward position. Lucy seemed to be unconscious. The gang hadn't noticed him, so he quickly ran back up to his room and sat listening. There was another period of silence before he heard a bloodcurdling scream, which was soon muffled by what sounded like a pillow. The scream had caught Zack off guard and his heart felt like it was beating 200 beats-per-minute. The chanting started again, followed by another silence, which was then broken by a deep growling. This circle continued until he heard a voice that sounded like Lucy's, and though it was not real speech, it stood out from the previous noises. She seemed to be trying to break free of something. The chanting then silence followed this, but the silence was broken by chains rattling and the whole gang asking Lucy if she was ok. This whole process lasted over two hours, but Zack had nothing better to do since he was supposed to be out with Summer at the chinese restaurant on the seafront. They had planned every possible evening together, and although they seemed to be dating, and no matter how much the gang thought they were, nothing was official. At least, not yet. Zack dipped  his hand into his right trouser pocket and pulled out a tube of breath spray, a bottle of homemade cologne, a little, red, velvet bag and a velvet and silk choker. The choker had been left on his desk with a note saying:

Give this to Summer on your next date. x x x

He had assumed that it was Lucy, as she had given him a similar one when he had arrived, and the handwriting was similar. The cologne had been left there too, with a note saying:

Hello Zack. This is a mixture of Summers favourite herbs, flowers and spices. Wear this whenever you see her and she will fall for you in a millisecond. ;)

He had no idea who could have given him this, but he was extremely grateful. The little bag he had made himself. He knew Summers favourite colours were red and green, so he had filled the bag with red rose petals, and inside was a silver charm bracelet, with three charms on - a small silver heart with a piece of emerald embedded into it, a jade lynx, or it could be a lioness, but the label had said lynx, and a silver and jade rose. Altogether this had cost him a lot of money, but he knew it was worth it if he won her heart.

He placed the four items on his desk and left his room to find Summer halfway up the stairs. They walked up to each other and stared for a while. Summer broke the silence.

"C'mon Zack! We can still make it to our reservation at The Jade Dragon!" She grabbed his hand and pulled him, but he resisted, ran back up the stairs and quickly grabbed his things. Shoving them into his pockets, he ran after Summer and out of the house. They ran, hand in hand, down the beach, only straying up to the pavement when they reached the restaurant. Once they had got to their seats Zack went to the mens room. He stood in front of the mirror and tried to make himself look presentable. Once he had played with his hair for a bit he took out the cologne and sprayed it five times, as instructed on the bottle, then gave his mouth a spritz. Earlier in the day he had put his choker on his wrist. He didn't bother taking it off, and he left the mens room with a confident stride over to his table. When he sat down Summer shot a smile at him. Once she had smelled the cologne her smile grew.

"So, we need to discuss what's going to be done about Lucy. Knowing her she will play up to that collapse and stay off for a few days." Zack said.

"I don't think she will. Lets wait and see if she shows up tomorrow." Summer lowered her voice slightly as many of the other customers knew her and were staring. "Besides, we have more important things to talk about." A small flicker of hope rose in Zack, and he reached into his pocket for the bag, when Summer said, "Theres something you need to know about me and the gang." The smile faded from Zack's face as she went on. "We aren't normal teenagers. We can do…things that other teens cant. We're," she lowered her voice to a whisper, "We're witches." At this Zack's jaw dropped. He sat in shock for a minute before bursting out in laughter.
