Two months have passed since Joey moved in with me. It’s been one hell of an experience. I realize everyday that I am falling for her more and more and it scares me. She is becoming my weakness and that scares me. Love doesn’t make you strong, it makes you weak. So weak that you can’t even live without a person. Love itself is strong but it makes you weak. That’s what I learned my whole life. That’s what I have believed in my whole life. And suddenly I was again falling in love; I was again becoming weak and vulnerable. This all was happening and I was well aware of it all, but Joey made my life beautiful and I never thought that anything would go wrong now. But just when I was starting to believe in a future someone from my past came and that someone was not there to make amends...

I was in the hospital, assisting a surgery. When I came out, Dr. Lambert came to me and asked me to come with her. She took me to a room and said,

“Ashlynn is here.”

“Ashlynn who?” – I asked

“That Ashylnn.” – She replied

And then I knew who she was talking about.

“What do you want me to do? Do you want me to tell her that you are not here today or?” – She asked

I stood silent for a while and then said,

“No, I will see her.”

“Are you sure?” – She asked

“Yes.” – I replied

“Okay then, come with me.” – She said and started walking

We reached the waiting room and there she was, sitting.

“Do you want me to come with you?” – Dr. Lambert asked

“No, I think I can handle her.” – I replied

“Okay.” – She replied and I walked towards Ashlynn

Dr. Lambert stood there, not leaving and I reached in front of Ashlynn.

“Hello.” – I said

“Aaron.” – Saying this she jumped and hugged me, not letting go

I pulled her away from me gently and asked,

“Why are you here?”

“Because you are here.” – She replied

I remained quiet for a while, then said,

“Go away.”

“You know, there was a time when you craved my company.” – She said

“That time’s long gone. Go away before I have a breakdown and call the security.” – I said, my temper rising

“Whoa there cowboy, no need to get hyper. By the way if you are angry then it means you still care, right?” – She said, with a wicked smile on her face

“Leave…” – I said again, my temper rising more and more

“Please Aaron, come with me. I am lost without you.” – She said

“You don’t know about real loss, ‘cause it only occurs when you’ve loved something more than you love yourself. And I doubt you have ever dared to love anybody that much.” – I replied

Just then Dr. Lambert came from behind and said,

“Ashlynn, if someone asks you to leave then it’s obvious that you should leave.”

Ashlynn’s gaze swept back and forth between me and Dr. Lambert, and then she turned and walked towards the door.

Suddenly she turned and said,

“You are not getting away that easily Aaron, remember that I will have you.”

Saying this, she left.

I stood there with Dr. Lambert, completely dumbstruck on what had just happened.

“What was she talking about?” – Finally Dr. Lambert spoke

“I don’t know.” – I replied

“And why does all of a sudden she wants you?” – Dr. Lambert asked

“I have no idea.” – I replied

Just then my phone rang.

I picked it up,

“Hey Aaron, it’s me. Anne.” – I heard Anne’s voice

“Hey Anne. What a coincidence, I just met Ashlynn and now you called.” – I replied

“I called because of that.” – She said

“Huh?”

“Ashlynn came to know about your relationship with Joey and now she is jealous that you are happy with another girl.” – She said

“Why is she jealous? It’s not like she ever loved me.” – I asked

“It’s not about whether she loved you or not, it’s about her getting the satisfaction that you wasted all your life just because you loved her and now Joey has come between that satisfaction. You know full well Aaron, what Ashlynn is capable of.” – She said

I really knew what Ashlynn was capable of; to get something she would go to any extent.

“By the way, what did she say to you?” – She asked

“She said that she will have me.” – I replied

“I am coming here Aaron. She will try to create misunderstanding between you and Joey. So it’s best if you tell her that Ashlynn has come back.” – She said

“Okay.” – I replied and then disconnected the call

“So, what did she say?” – Dr. Lambert asked

“She told me about Ashlynn’s motives. And that I have to tell Joey.” – I replied

“Then what are you waiting for? Your shift has already ended, so there’s no need for you to stay here.” – She said

I turned to leave.

“Hey keep me posted, if she does anything bad I wanna teach her a lesson.” – Dr. Lambert said

I smiled and nodded.

I reached my apartment. I opened the door and entered.

“Hey.” – Joey said and came forward to kiss me

I kissed her and then took her by the hand to the couch and we both sat.

“I wanna tell you something.” – I said

“What?” – She asked

I looked into her eyes and said,

“Ashlynn has returned, she came by the hospital today.”
