Quin ran along to rooftops cursing himself silently. It was such a foolish idea to go back to the Agent's apartment. Especially since its her job to take him down. But he couldn't help it. She was just so much fun, so much more alive than any of the other cops and detectives that had chased him.

She was also so much more attractive than the others as well. His eyes could run up those long legs for days and still not get enough.

His earpiece crackled to life, "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?!" Jaden shouted at him, "YOU COULD'VE GOTTEN YOUR SELF CAUGHT! YOU CAN'T JUST GO OFF INTO GAGA LAND WHENEVER A LITTLE CHIT BATTS HER PRETTY LITTLE EYELASHES AT YOU"

Quin took a deep breath decided that the best course of action would be to try to calm him down so he would have to explain "you're right Jaden, it was very silly of me. In fact, I was berating myself about that before you even called me"

"DAMN STRAIGHT IT WAS VERY SILLY OF YOU! IF I DIDN'T TURN ON YOUR EARPICE BEFORE YOU STARTED GIVING OUT ALL OUR SECRETS I'D BET YOU WOULD STILL BE THERE TRYING TO GET UNDER THE AGENT'S SKIRTS" Jaden took a deep breath, "Why did you turn off your piece in the first place?"

So you wouldn't hear me making a complete fool of myself Quin thought to himself, not that he'd say that out loud.

"What did we find on the lakey?" He asked, hoping to derail the question.

It worked, "not much, the knife, some cash, and a fountain pen."

Quin paused mid step, "a pen? Anything on it?"

"Uh..." Quin started running again as he heard the sounds of moving paper it the background "nothing. Just a marbled blue cap"

"Can you write with it" Quin asked with a bit of trepidation. He neared the safehouse which was an old, abandoned warehouse. But looks can be very decieving

A few seconds later Jaden answered, "no, why did you want it for yourself?"

"Is it one of those pens that you can twist open the center of it?" Quin asked, ignoring the question. There had to be something special about it.

"Think so, why?

"Just a hunch. I'm right outside" Quin waited in the shadows outside the warehouse for Jared to open the door. The place had been modified to be air tight. Even Quin would have trouble getting in.

Jared opened to door and let Quin in. A series of high security locks could be heard sliding in behind them. Yet from the outside, no one would hear a thing.

"The pen?" Quin asked as he pulled off his mask and ruffled his hair to allow it to finally breathe. Jared held it up and gave it to him.

"The Snakes sometimes put messages in ordinary objects so if they were caught, it wouldn't seem suspicious." Quin explained as he unscrewed the center "but I bet if I open this..." the two peices separated and opened to reveal a tiny rolled slip of paper.

At the same time, Jared's computer dinged. While Jared went to check on it, Quin unrolled the paper

They both read their messages and looked up said at the same time, "we have a problem"

Or rather, Quin thought grimly, Agent Tamera Pierce does
