A/N: This is just a poem I wrote a few days ago; lets just say it wasn't the best day and I really needed to drain my emotions out onto paper. It's roughly based on the song Say Something by A Great Big World.

Do you ever get to that point in life where you start to give up on things...?

Things like...friendship?

Things like...family?

Things like...love?

My life until now has been like a dove,

Beautiful, free, so pure and innocent,

But these days, I feel like a peasant,

Ugly, chained, impure and guilty.

I need you to speak,

To help me get to sleep,

You've experienced things that I never have,

Things that I never will...

I need you to give me a shape,

To help me conceal this hate,

Lead me to fake happiness; to fake promises; teach me these things,

For this is all I have never known, but all I will ever know.

Help me to heal my broken soul,

To heal my broken heart; my broken mind,

Every time someone asks, I will reply,

"No, don't worry...I'm fine."

Please say something,

Help me to feel better,

Take the tightness from my chest,

But why bother; it won't help, there is nothing left.

Please say something,

I'm giving up on myself,

I'm sorry I couldn't save myself,

From the pains of humanity.

But, now you're saying goodbye,

You're giving up on yourself,

You're sorry you couldn't save yourself,

From the pains of humanity.

This is what you feel after a loss of a loved one,

It's how everyone feels,

So, please say something,

Because I'm giving up on you...
