Chapter 15

I aligned my new and neatly folded wardrobe into the large leather bag that Harry previously handed me to pack for our exciting escapade that would departure in a matter of minutes. We had to migrate as soon as possible, according to Harry, to insure we'd get there before sunset. Apparently the evenings were the peak period that people would book into hotels and bed and breakfasts.

A reminder popped into my head to remember my toothbrush and sanitary pads- just in case.

"Ready?" His voice rang throughout the silent apartment.

"Yeah." I replied, quickly shoving the toiletries into the pocket of the russet-fabric before I threw the strap around my shoulder. I ambled to where Harry awaited for me. He was leaning on the frame of the open front door and as usual he was tapping away on his phone; I had to get a look for myself to see what was so interesting about it.

When he noticed my presence in his peripheral view, his head twisted to face me with his lips curving up on one side till it formed a lopsided smile which pretty much took my breath away. His whole essence was so thrilling to me and unlike anything I've ever experienced; I love it...

I had to stop feeling this way, first I felt flustered and now I can't breathe properly. I haven't felt this way since Jason McFritz: my first and only crush whom I felt I was 'head over heels in love' with.

"Don't forget your," Harry trailed off pointing at the rifle that sat on the cabana table.

I pursed my lips as I shakily grabbed the weapon and shoved it in my bag.

"Need help with that?" he offered nodding towards his tanned carryall that I was holding.

"I think I can handle it," I murmured shooting him a grin before overtaking him. After he locked the door of the only flat of this building, which was in use, I started heading downstairs.

Once I reached outside, a gulf of wind blew me back making me bump into a hard solid. Fingers gripped around both of my arms just below my shoulders and gently pushed me aside.

"Don't fly off with the wind." Harry's voice echoed into my ear before letting go of his grasp on me and walking towards his car.

My mouth was the slightest bit agape and I was just stupefied in the moment.

"Coming?" He hollered at me.

I snapped back into reality feeling befuddled. I speed-walked towards the car and got in the front seat with the bag lying heavily on my lap; I was still feeling uneasy with the gun as somehow I perceived that it could shoot on its own.

I hastily put on my seatbelt just before Harry started the car, he purposely made the engine roar to frighten me. I gripped tightly onto the leather of the seat as he menacingly chuckled, amusement filling the atmosphere inside the vehicle.

Once we were on the motorway, everything was smooth-sailing but also quite awkward.

"If you want to put on some music there's some CDs in that compartment." Harry noted.

I guess it beats sitting in silence for a few hours. I opened the compartment and some CDs fell out. I couldn't make out any of the album titles but I decided to put one of the CDs in. A loud tune started to play, the singer started screaming lyrics out; it was one of those beats that would get your heart racing. But there was something so distort about this music- it held so much pain unlike any music I'd heard blasting from Ashley's radio.

"Like it?"

"Yes, it seems to hold a lot of strong emotions yet it's soothing."

"Exactly why I listen to it," Harry grinned at the road ahead. I smiled that he displayed some normality, however the only music I know of are from musicals that father used to take me to watch in the theatres and Ashley's collection of music.

"I guess music to you is like art to me," I mumbled unintentionally speaking my thoughts.

"Oh yeah you like to paint."

"It is rather enjoyable and calming."

"I feel the same way about music," he unexpectedly told me. "It's a temporary escape to the permanent problems."

I sat quietly wondering what he meant by that.

"It's only a temporary escape because by the time it ends, you should be able to find a solution to your problems which aren't so permanent as you may think after all." I muttered, sure that he hadn't heard me. I didn't intend him to anyway; I said it to reassure myself.

I gazed out the window to see other cars passing by as I fiddled with the straps of the bag.

"Here," I heard Harry call over the booming sound; he seemed to be reaching for something underneath his seat whilst his other hand was steering straight. A green-like material flew towards me and landed on my lap. "Put it on so the people driving past don't easily recognise you."

I held the fabric up and saw that it was a headwear, a beanie to be exact. I hastily fumbled with the wool and forced it upon my head.

"Look at me."

I gasped feeling frozen at the contact of his fingers grazing my left cheek before gently adding force to make me face him.

From below, my eyes scrolled up to greet his hard, emotionless, apple-coloured eyes. Nevertheless, it was superlative, amazing, like his plump limps. I watched them slowly move as his deep voice that compelled me endlessly spoke.

"Perfect."

A/N: Did you know grapes have veins? And as I was eating it, I realised that I had been eating its veins... Anyway, thanks for commenting. x
