it was now 3rd September 1939, my first mission had arrived i was going to war, a large van was waiting outside for me and before i went i whispered to my mum"he is still alive" her tears made me feel like i had made a mistake of telling her so i gave her a hug and i said i will be back soon.

A couple of hours later we arrived at Dover where i got to meet my team of six, my commander was called Major Jones, Lieutenant Marshal, Lieutenant Roberts, Second Lieutenant Smith and bean and cadet Percy, our instruction was two things "1. stay alive 2. reach no mans land where soldiers are waiting for your aid, good luck gentlemen."

Two hours later we landed in Utah Beach Normandy, Utah was hell there was a massive shower of bullets "first mission destroy the gun nests and find the radio connections" basically clear the nest of Germans.

Then there was the bombs German planes bombarding us 1 bomb after the next  i was petrified we came with 12 other crews and we had 10 crews left when we got to the dune covered in barbed wire just as the man was cutting the wire he was shot in the arm so i blew the top of the barbed wire, when we approached the nests we where warned about the mine Field and my squad was told to go across it, all of a sudden i felt this pain in my left leg then i just blacked out i had no feeling in my body i felt my heart slowing, slowing, slowing and stopped.
