Monday

Lucas sat with his eyes closed. Years ago he had learned that life would give you what you want, but you only had two ways of getting it. Waiting patiently, or taking it.  He could do both, it was only a matter of how he was feeling that day.

Even with his young age, he had visited a lot of places, and had a lot of sense, he was wiser than his years.  He had realised that he was differently sane to everyone in the world.

His sanity was more fun. But he knew he wasn't the only one that could see his sanity. He knew when someone was pretending to be sane, and he knew his Doc was a good actress.

The door was closed in his padded cell, and he had had the straight jacket removed the last time his Doctor had visited him. Saturday.  The night he had visited her and he hadn't seen her since.

His doctor, he realised, was one of the only reasons he kept coming back. It was almost like they were standing on two sides of a line. They were so close to each other, him and his doctor were so similar, yet they were so far apart. She was more sane than most people, sane enough to state things as they were, she was the sane that could see all others, see his. That also meant she was dangerous. Lucas' sane was something entirely different.

She broke the rules though, she played it on the line, she had so many secrets, emotions, mysteries, it would drive he crazy.

He wasn't crazy. He was just misunderstood.

The people in this hospital, the ones that think themselves as animals, that they're superheroes, that they could fly. They were the crazies.

He knew who he was. He knew he had no morale, and could do anything he wanted.

He simply showed it to the world.

He heard footsteps. He didn't lean back. Lucas was perfectly still, holding himself like someone meditating. Though he didn't need to meditate, he didn't believe in God.

He was his own god. If he wanted something, he wouldn't pray to get it, he wouldn't ask anyone to get him it. He would take it, and right now, he wanted his doctor.

He had always liked a challenge.

"She hasn't come in today. It's the first day she's missed since she started five years ago. Ron's getting worried. Said she hasn't called or anything." Gary said.

"She's probably just staying home today, Lucas is her patient. I wouldn't come in if I was her. "Lynn replied.

"I don't think that's it, She's always enjoyed a challenge. Something bad must have happened."

Lucas thought of the drugs he had given her. How much of them she had in her body. Although most of his face seemed calm, a smirk threatened the edge of his lips.

It was dark. I was surrounded by darkness.  It had always only been my eyes where I felt alive, like the rest of my body was a puppet.

My eyes were sealed shut. There was no life, yet I could feel the fabric of my bed, I felt every part of my body tingle. It was like a giant weight had been placed on me, and I was rooted to the spot.

Was I dead? Or was I dying? The calm before the storm?

Suddenly I sat up, my face damp with sweat and my eyes opening.  My hand, not in my control, lurched forward and grabbed the bucket. I threw up in it. He had given me too much. I was just puking out every alien in my body.

I might just survive.

Before I could think any more the darkness grabbed onto, and once again the lights closed- my eyes were slammed shut, and I imagined the sound of metal doors been slammed like the sound of a prison cell.  I was asleep again.
