At the term"clockpunk", you may be scratching your head and asking, "Say what now?"
If you've heard of Steampunk, think similar, but all about clocks.

Even as Steampunk features clockwork gadgetry now and again, Clockpunk is focused exclusively on such elements. Think of parent and child, and while Steampunk is definitely the mommy, Clockpunk is the feisty kid.

Furthermore, Clockpunk's timeline (pun intended) is pre-Industrial Revolution,whereas Steampunk is decidedly post-Industrial Revolution (aka The Victorian Era).
A huge inspiration for the genre is inventor Leonardo Da Vinci. Other renowned clockmakers like Wolfgan von Kempelen and Jacques de Vaucansan make the cut, but none have left the indelible mark like Da Vinci.

If you're truly a Clockpunk nerd, (like I know you are), you might argue the specifics of reason, like, "But if Clockpunk is set in anera before Steampunk, how is it a sub-genre of Steampunk, and not the other way around?"
Well, my dear Watson,that's because before the categorization of Steampunk, Clockpunk floated in the ether, undefined. Steampunk adopted it, became it'spa, and of course ma, and now we have both delineations!
