Chapter 8- Crash

Anabelle’s P.O.V.

“I…I…” I was speechless. I fell to the ground clutching my head in between my hands while tears started to roll down my eyes rapidly. If it weren’t for the decisions my mom made, I wouldn’t be bullied!

“I just don’t understand,” I mumbled, shaking my head. “My mom said Dad was always the one she loved and that Dad was the only boyfriend she ever had…” I continued.

“I’m sorry. I really am. I just… I guess I’m too much of a coward to tell my Dad that I want to stop bullying you because I knew that once he hears those words leave my lips, I’ll be hit. Abused,” Nate whispered as he rubbed soothing circles on my back.

I looked at him as I wiped my eyes. “He abused you? Is that the cause of those bruises all over you?” I gasped.

He merely gave me a small nod and looked into the distance. A sigh escaped my lips.

“What would you do? What would you say? How does it feel? Pretend it’s OK…” my phone started ringing, playing the song of Little Mix entitled Pretend It’s OK. The caller I.D. said that it was Mom calling. I heaved out a huge sigh. I can’t handle talking to her right now, at least not after what I just found out. I ignored her call and placed my phone back in my pocket. After about three seconds, my phone rang once again. As I was about to ignore the call, I noticed that it wasn’t my mom calling me; it was Arianna! A smile quickly made its way to my lips. She’s calling me! She’s out of comatose!

I stood up and quickly placed the phone to my ear.

“Ianna!” I screamed with excitement.

“Sorry, but this isn’t Arianna. This is Linda…”

“Oh. I’m sorry, Mrs. Daniels. I thought it was Ianna because the number is hers…” I replied to Ianna’s mom.

“Yes… Umm… How do I say this? Uhh…” Mrs. Daniels stutters.

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “How is Arianna, Mrs. D?”

I heard her take a deep breath. “She… She’s gone,” she choked out.

I dropped my phone to the ground. No. Ianna can’t leave me. She can’t. This can’t be true. Ianna’s a fighter. I gingerly reached for my phone.

“Anabelle? I-I’m sorry I had to tell you this way. And I’m sorry but I’ve got to go already…” Mrs. Daniels whispers. I replied with a soft good bye.

“No. She can’t be. This must be some sick joke! Arianna’s a fighter. She goes through all the battle she faces and this one wouldn’t be any different. No, no, no,” I cried.

“No,” I whispered repeatedly. Nate went to my side and placed his arms around my shoulders. “Why are you crying?”

I just shook my head and pursed my lips together. “I-I… I can’t…” I breathed out and the dark consumed me.
