Melody's brown eyes flicked up to her mother, then back down to the note. She had so many questions.

Where could she get a dress? Would he choose her? Did they really plan on her going?

So much ran through her mind in one instant, "I need a dress." She managed to say, and both of her parents' faces lit up as she accepted going.

Melody’s eyes glittered as she looked at her mother’s handy work. She had her mother’s prized red curtains turned into a beautiful red gown. Her family even pulled out their most treasured items to cover her in jewellery to make sure she was dazzling.

“You look beautiful.” Her mother smiled proudly.

“Thank you, Mama. This means… so much to me…” It wasn’t about marrying a noble, or impressing the prince. Her family had given her everything they loved, even if it was just to get them out of debt.

Melody hugged her mother and father, then noticed a group of noble women moving through the down to the direction of the castle.  Melody waved, and hid herself amongst the women.

Even though they all wore proper princess-like ball gowns, Melody stood out in her amazing red.
