My Wind. Your Fire.

Chapter 19

We vowed to be together forever. And that brought me happiness. At that time I realized that I love him.  And that realization made me happy.

Say, Drew, will you take me to the ends of world. Where it'll just be you and me, with no one to bother us and no one to harm us. I want to be with you at all times. Because you brought happiness and joy into my life.

Drew, I love you.

I woke up. But my eyes were closed, yet my brain was wide awake.

Am I still inside the barrier? I wondered opening my eyes. I was blinking the blurriness from my eyes, my arm glowed.

Drew.

I shouted, "Drew! Are you still there?" It was silent.

When I didn't receive an answer, my heart started to beat faster as fear started to settle itself in me. He couldn't have left, he couldn't have. My throat feels like its constricting and my stomach rumbled. I haven't eaten anything since lunch yesterday.

I'm starving.

By now I could feel heat in my eyes. And tears welling up. I feel like a lost child, I don't know what I should do anymore.

"Drew..." I cried, my heart pounding faster,"are you there?"

I wanted him to answer. I want his voice to reassure me...I want him to comfort me.

When there was still no answer, I didn't know what to do. I just sat there, waiting.

Waiting for him, as stupid as it sounds...I know he won't leave me.

I wasn't sure how long it was, but I was trying to go back to sleep. My eyes were closed, trying to count sheeps. But onto my 109th sheep I gave up, it's not working.

I didn't really expect it to work, but I needed something to keep my mind settled.

"Drew." I said, in a small voice. I wasn't expecting an answer, but there was a knock on the barrier.

Alert I sat up quickly, and walked to the knock. "Drew?" I asked again, my arm glowing up once more.

The emblem was getting warmer, it didn't feel as if my hand was on fire but , there were sparks.

And that made me sweat.

My head pounded as I tried to think. "What is this?"

"Drew!" I can't, I can't think. "Drew!"

It feels tight, and warm. This place, is really too dark.

I want to get out,"Drew!" I pounded against the barrier, wishing for it to break.

I wanted it to burn.

Burn into ashes.

I hate being constricted.
I detest it.

I didn't know what was happening as I was consumed with my thoughts.

But when I looked up, the barrier was already half gone.
The top of the dome was melting, but there weren't any drips.

I watched as crimson flames licked the black material of the barrier.

"Seems like it's dancing isn't it." I heard Drew's voice.

I couldn't help but felt relieved. My body was exhausted, and hungry.

Tears welled up,"Why didn't you answer when I called you?" I said in a small voice.

I didn't want to cry, but I couldn't help it.
He wasn't with me throughout everything. He wasnt by my side, even though he promised to be, at all times.

So I couldn't help but feel lonely, abandoned, and upset.

I feel like I'm pmsing right now.

Drew looked uncomfortable as he rubbed the back of his Neck. "I'm sorry, ok. Just don't cry." He averted his emerald eyes,"it's just, I went scavenging for food."

"I didn't expect you to get up so early." He motioned to the now rising sun,"I got berries?" He held them in his hand.

They were blueberries and strawberries. I sniffed,"I was waiting for you."

Then I glanced at my emblem,"but I guess I could've came out by myself." I glanced at the flames.

The barrier was gone, so I can now walk out from the place I was in.

I puffed out my cheeks at Drew. And turned my head away.

What a jerk, who cares if he says sorry. He should've stuck with his promise.

...but I'm making a big deal out of nothing right?

I looked at Drew, his hair was disheveled and there was a line of dirt on his face.

He had this lost look on his face, which makes him silly.

I let out a giggle, his hair really blends in with the forest.

He raised his head and furrowed his eyebrows in confusion ,"What are you laughing about August?" 

I laughed as I leaned forward and wiped his face.

My thumb touched his cheek, after a couple of rubs his face was clean. "You had something on your face." I stated, noticing how close we are right now.

Our faces just few inches apart, my face grew hot realizing the situation.

I just took the initiative...I'm such an idiot!

I leaned back, but a hand shot up to grabbed my arm.

"Wait," he said,"your hair is a bit messy." He reached up to my head, and ran his hand through it.

Combing it, and all I could do is stay there...pondering what our actions.

It just seems, as if my blush comes naturally when I'm around him.

Drew Hayden,  I think...you're important to me.

I don't know what this is called yet, but I know you're important to me.

Which is why, Ill always stay by you.

Because you're important.
