Failure and New Hope

I sit next to Kevin as he stares at Bulbet deep in thought

“S-Shes so strong” he says to himself as he picks up a bag of his belongings

“We need to train” he tells me “I think you should evolve on of your Pokémon before you battle her” he says in a shaken voice…

We head out into the outskirts of the city to find some wild Pokémon to battle against, sometime past no Pokémon really a match for Eevee or Growlithe, it seems Abra is struggling with battle but he teleports really well. Unit we find a small humanoid Pokémon its body coated in well-toned muscles. Kevin says it’s a Machop and should be pretty easy to battle, its his turn to fight.

“Bulbet go!” he yells as he releases his Poké ball at the Machop

“Now use vine whip” he yells but before Bulbet can attack or react the Machop is at the side of Bulbet and delivers a swift chop to the side of Bulbet knocking him backwards. I look towards Kevin I can see in his eyes hes panicking, he voice shaking he yells

“Bullet Seed! Then Body Slam!” as he yells he points at the Machop. Bulbet opens the flower on his back wider releasing dozens of seeds into the air which then fall like rain onto the Machop

“Its defences are down it should be easy” I think to myself, but when I look again I see the Machop charging side to side past the falling seeds. He hesitates then yells 

“Bulbet. Bulbet! Now use Body Slam” as he does Bulbet charges at the Machop at leaps into the air, its large flat body exposed for the attack when suddenly Kevins face drops, the Machop kicks Bulbet launching him past Kevin.

I look at Abra, he already knows what to do. He vanishes instantly and reappears stood on Bulbet he then touches his head with his and make the pair vanish

“Bulbet?” Kevin yells confused

“Hes fine” I say as I look down to see Abra tapping my leg with the injured Bulbet next to him.

“You did well” I say as I smile down at Abra….

We quickly return to the Poké centre to heal Kevin’s Bulbet. We sit down waiting for the nurse as Kevin says

“I failed…” he bows his head as he talks. Were interrupted by the nurse.

"Your Pokémon are now healed. We hope to see you again”

“Thanks” Kevin says as he stands up and heads to the door

“There’s a dojo in this town. I’m going to train there” he says as he exits the centre….
