"Hey, it's Luke. I'm busy right now. I'll call you back if I can, okay?"

Beep.

"Nice one, changing your voicemail like that. Look, I went to your flat yesterday. All of your stuff is gone. Where the hell did you go? I even went back to ask your mum and she said you're taking some time to yourself. Something about keeping me safe?"

The voice cracked.

"This isn't a bloody action movie, Luke. I don't understand what you're doing. I miss you so much, it feels like my heart is being ripped to shreds. Don't you love me too? Is that what this is? You're too afraid to face me and tell me that you don't care about me anymore, so you're making all this up?"

There was a long pause.

"Luke, do you remember my planned suicide date? It's on the day my mom died. Today is May 17. There are three more days. Please, I don't wanna spend the day alone. I don't know if I can take it. Come back... I'm begging you, love. Please come back to me."

A deep breath sounded through the phone.

"I love you."

Beep.
