Chapter Sixteen

Charlotte's POV

The cool metal blade thrust forcefully against my neck as I watched Dakota and Amity with wide eyes. There bodies were held at a standstill, scared to make an abrupt movements. I struggled in Jeremey's grip, desperately attempting to escape, but he easily overpowered me.

"Let me go," I barked, my anger escalating.

"Shut up," he hissed, pressing the knife harder against my neck, causing pain to flare across the tender skin. "I knew you were trouble the second I laid eyes on you, and the only reason I didn't snap my neck right there was because of your puny mate. No worries though. Chase isn't here to stop me from ending your useless life."

At his words, I began to panic. Dakota and Amity couldn't attack Jeremy without him slitting my throat first, so that left me with exactly zero options.

"Please don't," Amity's frail voice whimpered. "Don't hurt her."

Jeremy's hungry gaze ran over Amity's vulnerable body, releasing a deep protective growl from Charlotte, who held Amity's body to her chest like a mother wolf.

"Why would I listen to-."

Jeremy didn't get finish his sentence, before I hurt a thud. His grip on me slackened dramtically, and his heavy body suck to the ground, his face landing hard on the wooden floor. I twirled around, expecting to see Chase or even better Colt, but I was wrong. Annie was standing there, her chest heaving hard and a brick firmly in her hand. I took a step back. Even though she had saved me from Jermy, did not make her any less dangerous. She still kidnapped Amity and I.

Pushing back her frizzy red hair, Annie smiled awkwardly before throwing the brick off to the side.

"Annie," I adressed her coldly," What are you doing?"

"Helping," she responed as if it was obvious.

"You've done enough, Casanova," Dakota growled, jumping to her feet, claws extended. "You're the reason we are in this mess in the first place. How do we know this isn't another part of your plan?"

Annie glanced around, nervously, as if expecting something to jump out.

"Listen to me for a second. We don't have much time before the whole pack is-."

"Why!" I exclaimed cutting her off. "Why one second you're kidnapping us, but the next you are saving us?"

"Harley has done so much for me," she replied haughtily. "But now that I have repaid my debt, I want to help! Now please, just listen to me!"

Chase's POV

"Where is he?" I growled, my fists clenching automatically.

Harley didn't even bother to turn towards me as he knelt towards the ground, attempting to locate where Dakota was. It was going to be difficult. Before we had set our plan into attack, I had grabbed Dakota's jacket and rubbed it everywhere possible, so it seemed she was everywhere.

"What do you mean?," Harley mumbled in a monotone voice before sniffing the ground.

"Elliot, my brother."

Rising to his feet, Harley rolled his eyes. "She must of made a trail," he said conclusively, ignoring my question. "I can't pinpoint where she went, and I will not let some intruder saunter through these halls, doing whatever! I'll sound the alarms."

Harley turned around, making his way towards the alarm system located in the front of the base. I grabbed his wrist, emitting an irritated growl from him.

"Elliot! Where is he?" I asked, beginning to panic. I couldn't leave this base without Elliot safely in my arms.

Harley ripped himself away from me, eyeing my curiously. "Probably dead. Only a few werewolves came back from our attack on the NightWalker pack, and Elliot wasn't one of them."
As the words escaped his mouth, Harley stared at me with zero emotion.

Dead? Elliot was killed? I could believe it; I had just saw him five months ago, living and filled with energy. Instead of feeling raw anger, I couldn't feel anything. I stood their motionless as if all my life source had just been sucked out of me. I didn't yell or cry; I didn't see the point in it - it wouldn't bring my little brother back.

"You promise me you would keep him safe as long as I did what you told me," I whispered, my fists clenching uncontrollably.

"Well Chase,"Harley snapped, his patience dwindling. "Fate has it's own agenda."

With the words still lingering on his tongue, Harley turned around, heading towards the alarm system. That was when reality set in. Harley had just announced to me that my little brother was gone from the world, adn he was about to set the alarms off, preventing my mate, Amity, and Dakota from escaping the base. I only had one option left.

"I can't let you set the alarms off, Harley," I growled, taking a step forward towards his retreating form.

Harley came to a standstill, his posture immediately becoming rigid. "Why is that?" he inquired, voice hard.

"It would ruin everything, and I won't let you ruin another part of my life," I replied.

"I have absolutely no idea what ou are talking about, Chase," Harley spat, whirling around to meet my gaze. "What do you mean about ruining your life? I have done everything and more to make sure that you had a nice life away from your old one!"

"Just to benefit you in the long run," I snapped, my anger escalating. As red began to tint my vision, my control started breaking.

"If this is about your brother-," Harley was about to say before getting caught off my sirens, almost identical to the ones at the NightWalker pack.

Speakers hanging from the speaker began to wail endlessly, as lights on the walls began to flicker red. In that moment, I would of been worried that Dakota, Charlotte, and Amity had not made it safley outside if not a heard a familar scent of the NightWalker pack permeate through the halls. Colt had finally arrived, letting me breathe a sigh of relief

Harley gazed at me in sock, finally putting two and two together.

"You're a traitor," he mumbled, conclusivley.

I only nodded my head, not even trying to lie. "I couldn't let you get away with this Harley. Amity is not your mate, and this whole pack domination plan was getting out of hand. You have to be stopped."

I didn't know what to expect after revealing the truth to Harley, but I realized it wasn't the best idea. With a growl ripping from his chest, Harley lunged towards me, claws extended.

A/N- this seems short, but it's actually 1000+ words. I'm sorry if this is rushed, because I'm actually in a rush. I'm going somewhere, and really wanted to update before I left. Sorry for all the grammatical and spelling errors I will fix them when I have the chance, but I hoped you enjoyed it anyway. Don't forget to...
