Chapter Fourteen

Everything was wrong, and if possible it kept going down hill from there. Harley's hand gently massaging my thigh, and his other hand petting my hair sent goosebumps rising on my arms, and not the good kind. Not the kind of goosebumps I got every time Colt said my name or when he stepped into the same room as me. The kind of goosebumps in the horror movies that the victims receive right before she is dragged in an alley and murdered.

"Amity," Harley cooed, "Sit back and relax. I'll explain everything, and after that I hope you'll understand how much I love and care for you."

Love and care for me? If that is true, why did he kidnap me, declare war on my pack, and treat me so roughly.

I inhaled a huge gulp of the musky air in Harley's grimy office, attempting to slow down my heart, beating erratically in my chest. I gave Harley a expectant look as my heart beat began to steady out.

He smiled, "I fell utterly in love with you the moment I laid eyes on you when your Alpha hoisted a party, and invited my pack, The White Claw, over. You looked absolutely irresistible while I gazed at you, dancing to a Luke Bryan song. I knew before hand that you were merely twelve, and I was fifteen, but from that moment I knew you were mine."

I nearly gagged. Harley has been planning this ever since I was twelve. Six years.

"I told my father," Harley continued,"but he didn't believe me. He told me that even though we weren't at the mating age yet, you would have felt the pull towards me, a feeling that could only describe of one of your mate. So we went back to our pack, but that didn't discourage me the slightest. I was going to win your heart at all costs. So when I became eighteen, and took my father's place as beta, I conjured up all these ideas of taking over packs, so I could make The White Claw the strongest in North America, so I could make you fall in love with me. After I told my Alpha all of my plans and ideas, he became weary of me, and before I could even blink...I was a rouge."

Harley's hand moved from stroking my blonde locks to firmly grasping my chin between two of his fingers. He cocked my head towards him, forcing me to look into his bloodshot emerald eyes filled with...love. I felt tears pool in the back of my eyes, threatening to spill over once again. Harley was loving me for all the wrong reasons. It was an obsessive love, not the undying love he should be feeling for his real mate.

"That's how I ended up here," he whispered, his unwavering gaze still locked onto me. "Since I was disowned from the White Claw, I created my own pack of rogues. They were eager to join if it meant shelter for them."

I opened my mouth, trying to tell Harley that this was all wrong. I wasn't his mate. I wanted to tell him that his mate was probably out there, waiting for the day he would come, and sweep her off her feet, but all that came out was a jumble of words, that made absolutely no sense.

Harley hushed me, "Don't say anything, and just let my words sink in. It's been a long day, so let's just go to bed. In the morning, everything will be better. You and I can finally leave, and live the life we deserve, with each other."

"Leave?" I croaked, suddenly becoming more nervous.

"Of course, my dear. This is just a temporary base, but now that I have you, we can go to the main base, a few states over. Far away from here."

Colt, Please hurry.

"So, you're telling me that Annie and Chase are actually working for whoever took my mate!" I roared at Elliot.

He flinched, bowing his head, so he didn't have to meet my murderous gaze. His whole body was shaking in fear, wondering if I was going to end his life. I wasn't going to. Elliot was the only person here with information on where Amity is and how to get her back. I would do anything to have her safe in my arms again even if it meant forcing the information out of Elliot.

"Yes," he whispered, his body swaying in the chair. Even though out pack doctor had come to wrap his fracture arm and parch up his deep cuts, Elliot still looked unusually pale and a light layer of cold sweat has begun to pop up on his skin.
