 Hey there, Delilah
What's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl, tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear it's true

...

A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah, I can promise you
That by the time that we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame

Hey There Delilah- Plain White T's

Ever since Caitlin left, Barry hadn't been the same and everyone had noticed. Especially Iris, Felicity, and Cisco. After all, those three knew him the best. Other than Caitlin, of course. Others had joined their group, such as Oliver Queen; Ronnie Raymond; Eddie Thawne and Laurel Lance. But the original five had always been: Barry, Caitlin, Cisco, Iris, and Felicity.

Since the formation of their group, a lot had happened and changed. Including, Iris and Eddie's relationship; Oliver's feelings for both Laurel and Felicity and Ronnie's crush on Caitlin. But through all that, the group had always been able to carry on. But this time it was different. The loss of Caitlin had also brought the loss of spirit in the group of friends, leaving certain member cold. Particularly Barry.

It was the first day back after the end of term and the group felt strange and empty with a missing member. Knowing that Caitlin was in an unknown environment in a new city and new school made the thought even worse to comprehend.

"I wish there was something we could do," Iris commented as she and Felicity walked to their Maths class with Barry a few meters ahead looking down and upset once again, like most days.

"I know but the only thing that would help is bringing Caitlin back. He's kinda lost without her," Felicity replied solemnly.

"Allen!" a loud and deep voice reverberated along the hallway which caused the two girls to look behind them and see the captain of the track team jog in Barry's direction. "I'll see you at practice later, yeah?"

"Yeah, sure," Barry replied with a lack of enthusiasm.

"Cool, I'll see you later then," then he jogged away.

This encounter reminded Barry of a similar confrontation from about three years ago...

A week had passed since Barry and Caitlin's first date and the whole year had been talking about their newfound relationship.

The young couple was walking hand in hand to hand on their way to their math lesson. At least until a rather obnoxious boy ran through them separating their intertwined hands.

"Rude," Caitlin sighed with a shake of her head and reuniting her and Barry's hands and leaning in for a kiss which he gladly reciprocated. "Let's go," she mumbled after a few seconds.

"Allen!" a loud and deep voice reverberated along the hallway which caused the young couple to turn around and see the captain of the track team jogging toward them. "I'll see you at practice later, yeah?" he asked as he reached them.

"Yeah," Barry replied, nodding.

"Cool, I'll see you later. You can bring your girlfriend too," he smirked then jogged away in the direction of the science block.

"You know, I've never actually seen you run before," Caitlin stated as they rejoined their hands and continued to walk to their math class.

"Well, it's not that big of a deal. You don't have to come," Barry replied, seeming a little uncomfortable and shifty.
