Jade's eyes blinked open and adjusted to the harsh morning light. Her eyes scanned the room. It was still unfamiliar to her, the colors black and yellow splashed across the room, big poufy pillows, and three other beds. Even though it was different, it already felt like home to her. Comfortable, and welcoming. And this would be her home for the rest of the year, until she went home for the summer... Jade wondered how her parents were doing without her.

Jade sat up, and looked around. Across from her were two empty beds, it looked like Hunter and Abby had already left. Jade wondered what time it was. Turning to her right, she saw Ruby sitting on the edge of her bed, fully dressed, and waiting for Jade.

"Hey, sleepy head." Ruby said with a smile, "are you coming to breakfast?" she asked.

"Yeah, sorry, I must have slept in..." she said, trailing off, and stepping out of bed.

"Not by much, Addy and Hunter just left." She said, comfortingly. Jade walked around, and saw her trunk sitting at the edge of the bed. Next to it was Mally's cage. She pulled off the fabric covering it, and set it up on the small table next to her bed. Jade knew her secret was safe with Ruby.

"You'll have to tell Hunter and Addy," Ruby said, walking up to Mally's cage.

"Addy already knows" Jade said. Ruby turned to her, surprised. "She caught me sneaking some food into her cage last night. She actually thought it was funny that I managed to sneak her into Hogwarts." Jade said with a smile. Ruby laughed. "Where are they, anyways?" asked Jade, looking at their empty beds.

"They went downstairs to the great hall for breakfast and to get their schedules for today." Ruby explained. "It seems like they're already friends." She continued. "Kind off odd, isn't it? They have such different personalities." Ruby said. Jade smiled, thinking of Addy's quiet and shy demeanour, and hoe Loud Hunter was in comparison.

"Well opposites attract," Jade laughed, pulling on her robes over her head. Ruby stared at her blankly. "It's a Muggle saying," Jade explained.

"Odd..." muttered Ruby. "You ready to go?" She asked. Jade nodded, and the two girls headed out of their dorm, out of the common room, climbing out of the barrels and heading to the great hall. It was already swarming with kids when they got there, and the two girls and their way to the end of the Hufflepuff table, and sat down across of Hunter and Addy, who were deep in conversation. Next to them sat Noah, and some boys who must have been from his compartment.

"Hey,' Hunter said as they walked up, then reached onto her lap and pulled out two pieces of paper. "I was told to give these to you," she said, handing one to Jade and the tossing the other to Ruby. Jade scanned the paper quickly, beginning to smile. It was their schedule, and to her delight, they had Herbology first! It was the one class Jade was really looking forward too.

"Darn!" cried Ruby from next to Jade. "We don't have defense against the dark arts until tomorrow. And potions!" Ruby grumbled. Hunter nodded with agreement.

"Those are two I'm interested in," she told Ruby. The two girls quickly fell into a discussion about some book they had read about Harry Potter. Addy was quiet, and didn't start a conversation, so Jade was left in silence. She didn't join their conversation. She was only interested in Herbology. It was the one thing here that sounded amazing. Unlike the other girls, she wasn't really into Defense Against the Dark Arts. Herbology just sounded so much more interesting. All of those magical plants! Jade couldn't wait to get stared.

"Looks like it's time to go," said Abby in a half whisper, motioning towards the clock. All the students were slowly trickling out of the great hall, and Jade, Ruby, and the other girls headed outside to the greenhouses.
