Chapter 8: Reality

Colins POV

I silently waited for Vernon and the guys to come. I just couldn't help but wonder what they wanted to talk about. I understand what I did was wrong and I talked to the guys besides V, but they were ready to forgive me. I was interrupted by the knocking on my door.

I got up and walked to the door setting my can of soda on the counter. I opened to be greeted by Reggie, Vernon, Frank (Gore), and Willis (Patrick). All of them smiled except Vernon and I don't blame him.

I quietly invited them in with a smile. They all high fives me and gave me one of the bro hugs ... except Vernon.

"Home girl!" Reggie exclaimed while looking around the room for the little girl.

"Reggie?" I heard a small voice from my bedroom. I looked at Reggie with a pointed look.

He looked at me sheepishly then jogged to the bedroom greeting the half awake girl.

I seated them down and asked them if they wanted to eat anything, they just shook their head and started to pass around the ball. I looked at Vernon who was looking towards the door where Reggie walked into and waited. I sighed and made my move.

"Hey." I seated myself next to him grabbing my can of soda.

He looked at me and nodded.

"Listen V, I'm sorry I know what I did was wrong and I accept that. I won't do that again you know I won't." He looked and me for a moment and gave me a small smile.

"You bet your ass you won't." He said while playfully punching me on the shoulder. I smiled at least he talked to me.

"Cole?" I looked up and see Reggie holding Alana in his arms while she rubs her eyes with her fist.

"Right here baby girl." I got up and took her in my arms.

"Can you say hello to everyone." I whispered down to her ear.

She looked up and smiled and waved. Everyone else waved back, except Reggie he looked a little off.

"You okay dude?" I asked him while everyone was in a capturing conversation with Alana.

"Yeah...I'm okay" He gave me a wary look. I just looked at him.

"Seriously what's wrong?" He looked at Alana and back to me then back to her again.

"I don't really want her to leave" Barely saying it. I looked at him shocked but couldn't say anything. I let him speak.

"I mean I know it's dumb, but I just don't want her to go you know? I like having her around and her company, if you haven't noticed but she makes this team better. We are better, have motivation, always pumped up, and just have positive vibes. I just don't want her to go."

He looked at me and gave me a small smile, "But there is nothing I can do."

"Cole!" I snapped out of my little thinking bubble and looked over and see her and the boys looking at me exceedingly.

"What?" I asked.

"Are you ready for dinner, we have reservations with Blake and Chris instead of going to the carnival." Ohh

"Oh yeah I'm ready, let me just get Alana ready." Walking towards her and I was about to pick her up when a hand stopped me.

I look up and see Vernon. I frowned.

"She looks fine." I looked to Alana who was wearing her PJs.

"Yeah, she plus she looks ten times more cuter." Reggie said pouting at her. She smiled brightly at him with a tint of pink glowing on her cheeks.

"I don't know guys." I said still looking at her. Maybe, she didn't look too bad. Hell she looks fine.

"Okay fine let's go." Everyone cheered and we went out not before me locking the door.

We went inside the elevator and listened to the music nodding my head to the beat. We got out into the lobby and there stood more of the players. As soon as they saw us they started to walk out of the hotel but not to far ahead. We walked for about five minutes because it was down the street.

"Look Cole." I looked towards the direction Alana was pointing. I chuckled when I saw DeAndre waving like a madman.

We entered the resturant and walked out way towards the table.

"Hey guys and little lady." Blake said bro hugging everyone then pinching Alana's cheek.

"Hi." She spoke back. She looked around trying to find someone but didn't.

"Who are you looking for Alanna?" I asked.

"I-THERE." We both looked up to see Chris walking towards us.

"CP!" He looked at us and smiled.

"Well hello cutie!" Alanna smiled sheepishly and hid in my chest. My heart warmed as she did, she looked up at me and smiled.

I warmly smiled back. Her eyes sparked when I did and turned to the group and started talking about god knows what. As I watched her I couldn't help but recall what Reggie had said.

Do I really want her gone? She grew too attached to us in a span of a couple of days.

Truth is I didn't want her to leave... but then again who am I to say when she leaves and stays.

"Colin." I turned my head to the voice that called out. There stood Coach and Mike.

Something seemed off as coach has a unreadable expression whereas Mike looked HAPPY like I just married his daughter.

"Come here we need to talk." I nodded and got up with Alanna still in my hands.

"Without the girl Colin." Mike said with surprisingly a gentle voice yet something still sharp to his words.

I looked at Alanna who faces me a thumbs up and sat by Vernon who nodded back at me.

I walked towards Coach and Mike and stopped by them.

"What do you guys need?"

The two looked at each other and then to me, "Colin," Coach started.

"We know what you did boy, and that is unacceptable! She cannot stay! You either..."

"Mike!" Coach shut him up in a minute.

How did they find out?

"Colin, you can't do what you did, I know you don't like hearing this but she needs to go back tomorrow."

"She can't."

"Colin-"

"It's been already done." I protested.

They both just looked at me and then gave me a paper.

I held the paper in my hand looked at it in disbelief.

There on the paper had me and Alanna front cover with the headlines , "Colin Kaepernicks daughter?!"

Fuck.
