Prologue

The following story recounts the life-changing series of events that my family has endured...

The exact dates of the events, names of the people involved and the names of places mentioned, have been changed in order to keep all parties protected.

My name is Joseph Wayne. I am 31 and unmarried. I do however have a girlfriend. She is 29. We will call her Sue.

Sue and I met in the summer of 2005 at the T.G.I.Fridays restaurant in Woodbridge, Virginia, where she worked as a waitress. We have been together ever since; a little over three years. She will be the woman I marry. She will be the woman I spend the rest of my life with.

At the time, I worked for the furniture company, Value City. I was the warehouse supervisor, in charge of shipping and receiving. I had only been working there for six months, when my life was changed forever.

My entire family, including; my parents, Beverly and Joseph Sr., my brother Mark and his wife Mandy, along with Sue and myself, have been placed in hiding and given completely new identities. We have been relocated far from the place we once called home and have been advised not to contact anyone from our past for any reason. We were told that our hiding would be temporary and that our lives would return to normal soon... that was nearly three years ago.

Most of the people whom we have been hiding from, are behind bars or dead. However, we will not be allowed to return to our former lives until all of them are captured.

These are the events as I remember them happening in the autumn of 2005...
