LOVE IS… CONFUSING (IRUKA OR KAKASHI LOVE STORY?)

CHAPTER 12

~~

It was the morning of the festival and I was back at the hospital. I wasn’t visiting with Ino, but I was sitting in a chair next to a sleeping Midori, who was now thankfully in stable condition after hours of nonstop operation yesterday in the late afternoon to practically midnight.

I ran a hand through my hair in frustration replaying the events of yesterday in my head. After receiving and reading the note Ino had given me, I immediately went to see Midori to find her lying on the ground in the middle of her living room badly wounded and unconscious. Without second thought I had immediately and gently propped her up on my back while teleporting to the hospital to let the nurses and doctor’s take it from there.

There was something missing, but what? There was no doubt in my mind that Ino wouldn’t ever lie to me, but then again she had said in the note she had ended up blacking out right before she had actually gotten a good look at the enemy who attacked, but she had been sure Midori was there. But when I went to see Midori to confront her, after seeing what I saw there was no possibly way it could have been her. Something was clearly missing but I just couldn’t seem to grasp my hand around what it exactly was. I had my suspicions though that concerned me, and I wouldn’t let this whole thing drop until after I got my hands on the book Ino had showed me the other day, because if my suspicions were right, Toshiko may just yet be alive.

Iruka and I were now at the festival and we had been wandering around for about an hour now. To my surprise, we hadn’t spotted any of our really close friends or people we knew around. I hadn’t even spotted Naruto which is rather unusual as he’s usually always around. Naruto probably was just off with some of the other Genin, so I shouldn’t be worried. But that still didn’t explain why I hadn’t spotted any other Jounin I knew like Asuma, Kurenai, Anko, Ibiki, or even Gai for that matter.

“So what would you like to do next?” Iruka asked sidetracking me from my thoughts of where everyone we knew could possibly be.

“Hmm… Well we’ve already looked and have been to all the concession stands so maybe-,”

“Kyoko? What is it?” He asked confused at my sudden pause in words.

“Smoke. Do you smell it? I think it’s coming from-”

“Ahh! Iruka!” I said startled as he had grabbed my hand and pulled me in the direction of the town square.

“Come on Kyoko! You need to relax! Let’s just enjoy ourselves!” He said with a reassuring smile that caused me to slightly blush and nod in response as we continued towards the town square. I all the while curious to know just what Iruka had in mind as he continued to pull me along with him.

As we made our way closer to the town square I couldn’t help but began to hear music. No more than a minute later and we were surrounded by numerous Sakura trees with people dancing to the music that was being played up on a stage. Before I could ask Iruka what we were doing he pulled me into the group of people dancing which ended up catching me off guard.

As we were dancing I didn’t say anything and just went along with it. As Iruka smiled I couldn’t help but smile myself and think about how Iruka could just make me forget everything even if only for a moment. I was having fun and didn’t plan on letting anything ruin the time we were having together. Or so I thought.

Once the song came to an end I couldn’t help but feel as if someone was watching me. Removing my hands from Iruka’s shoulder and side I looked around him to spot Kakashi off in the distance. He wasn’t alone though, but I couldn’t quite tell who was with him. My guess was someone from the mission he had just gotten back from.
