Sofia's P.O.V

Summer. The season of relaxation, memorable moments, and of course, love. Mostly you spend time with your friends checking out the hot guys on the beach kicking a footy ball around and other sappy crap. I'd usually participate in these kind of activities, but this time it was something different.

When school was over, I couldn't wait to finally escape the horror within. As in all stereotypical schools in books, there is drama. And boy, I was the centre piece of it.

Basically, I caught my ex-boyfriend Ben, making out with one of my friends Jen, at my own birthday party. Literally it was a mess that night, and then ended with both of my connections with them cut off off completely. From then on I only had my other friend Georgia to rely on.

Before the drama, Georgia, Jen and I would rent out a beach house down the coast and spend the whole summer there. We practically did this since we were little kids. That's why I would usually look forward to summer, until now.

"Please Sof, you can't leave me alone at the house by myself!" Georgia begged on the second last day of school.

"I'm sorry George, but I would come if she wasn't going," I said, narrowing my eyes towards Jen who was chatting with Finn, my new boyfriend. She better not steal him away...

"Oh don't worry! Jen can't come anyway because she's going to Paris with her parents." Georgia said. "So you can still come with me!"

I gave her a doubtful look. She then clunged onto my hands. "C'mon Sofia, I've already booked it out! And I also got us tickets to Swedish House Mafia's festival, and their holding it at our beach."

I sighed, pulling a smile. "Fine, I'll come. Wouldn't want those tickets to waste away!" Georgia beamed at me. "Yay! It's going to be the best summer yet, I can feel it."

I jumped off the bus, dragging my luggage behind me down the small bushy path to the house. The sound of the waves crashing could be heard from far. Inhaling the smell of the salty water, I smiled to myself.

As the house came into full view, I could see Georgia's car parked beside it, and herself unloading her luggage. I hurried down to her, calling out her name.

"Georgia!"

She turned around and shot me a quick smile, before anxiously turning to look at something on the other side of the van. Then I realised as I got closer. It was Jen. As I gave Georgia a hug, I could feel Jen's eyes burning into me.

"I'm just gonna take my luggage up.." Jen said awkwardly, going up the steps to the front door.

"Oh, the keys are on the table!" Georgia called out to her. I took this opportunity to speak to her in private.

"I thought you said she was going to Paris," I hissed angrily. Georgia gave me a guilty look. "I'm sorry! I just really want the two of you to be friends, and then we can all have a good summer."

"Well, I do go by the rule, forgive and forget; but with her, there's no exception." I said, brushing past her. I knew I was making her feel bad, but I'll apologise later. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the second house on the beach, which was quite far from ours. But what really caught my eye was that it wasn't empty.

From the countless times being there, we used to think no one rented it because it was haunted. One time we tried staying there one night alone with a flashlight, and lets just say it was a horrible experience.
