I Really Do Want To

I can hear them downstairs

and I could go down

and tell them i care

but i don’t really want to

I could go make nice with them

stop all the tears

never to come again

but I don’t really want to

I could go and be happy

and could just go to sleep

and not be sappy

but I don’t really want to

I could clean up this mess and forget

the stains and throw it all away

and never give thought to regret

but I don’t really want to

I could stay right here and let it all drip down

down from my crown and creep through my gown

my birthday dress which they insisted i wear

but I don’t really want to

But I really do want to

right?
