Chapter 5

i ran into the bathroom and vomited into the toilet, shit its been awhile, i grabbed the package and began sniffing up the stuff, i held my nose for a moment and then wiped any powder that was on my nose off

i slowly stood up "lizzie" maggie said walking into the toilets "i'm okay maggie" i breathed feeling the effects take hold of me, i shook my head as i got a bit dizzy but that finally subsided, i opened the door and looked at Maggie "lizzie sweetheart you dont look well" she said touching my arm "you're freezing" she said quite alarmed

"i'm fine, i had a rough night" i lied, stumbling towards the mirror, "lizzie you dont have to work today maybe just go home" Maggie said,i looked at her and shook my head "no i'm fine really, trust me" i breathed "just give me a minute" i said grabbing tissues and wiping my sweating forehead.

*****Riley's POV******

I left lizzies apartment after i fixed up her bed and made my way home, as i walked i thought about last night and this morning, it was amazing to know how good sex can acutally be, i just couldnt get enough of her, her lips, her body even they way she smelt.

i looked for my keys in my jacket pocket and finally found the keyring of the police station "dean! i'm back!" i called "that illegal!" dean shouted smashing something, i walked into the kitchen and seen that sandy girl, her nose covered in powder and the floor covered in it too

"what the hell?" i said "sandy? why are you doing this!" dean shouted again, she stared of in a daze, she was completely high of her head, i walked over to her and grabbed her arms "sandy,drink this" i said sitting her down and giving her coffee "yuk disgusting" she moaned after taking a sip

"riley where's lizzie?" sandy asked finally looking at me "she went to work" i said, her eyes widened and she stood up and made a run for the door "sandy" dean said grabbing her and bringing her back to the kitchen "GET HER!" sandy screamed at me "she's in danger of herself, please riley, she wont be able to control herself.....riley i gave her a pack aswell when we where at her place" sandey said before going back in a daze

i was confused for a moment until it finally hit me, she must have been a drug addict, i moved away from sandy before running out of the house "riley!" dean shouted but i kept running, she was at work with a packet of drugs and she probably is taking it, i turned the corner and seen the groomers sitting there peacefully, i ran towards it and slammed open the door "Maggie where's Lizzie?" i asked, she pointed at the toilet and when i got there fear hit me

"she's not in here" i said to myself, i looked around quickly before leaving the shop "riley where could she have gone?" Maggie asked, i looked around turning around to scan the area then i seen her, swaying on the sidewalk, she was beside the water, i ran across the road just as she dropped to the ground

"Lizzie!" i yelled falling to my knees beside her, her nose was bleeding and she was vomiting, i pulled my phone out and called an ambulance telling them that i was an officer and that lizzie had ODed, i turned her to her side and soon the ambulance arrived and took her and me to the hospital.

i stood outside the room and waited for her to wake up, she was in bad form and it was sandy's fault, that stupid girl, i heard the clink of heels running my way so i lifted my head and seen her parents, her mother in tears and her father looking extremely worried yet angry, I stood up and the mother stopped in front of me "riley" she said before hugging me, i patted her back and looked at lizzie's father, he glared at me and balled his hands into fists before grabbing his wife and grabbing my shirt in anger "noah!" her mother shouted before a doctor walked out of lizzie's room

"hello son ...mary..noah" the doctor said, i looked at them confused for a moment then just decided to listen "this is the 4th time lizzie has had an OD experience" the doctor said to the parents, I looked at them and sat down, she was a user before,"if she does this again she will have more of a chance of losing her life, her body can't cope with this " the doctor explained "can we go see her?" They asked "yes, she awake and she can go home later today" the doctor said "thank you Derek" they said

They walked inside and Mary held the door open for me, I thought about It for a moment before walking in behind them "honey" Noah said grabbing her hand, I finally seen her and she looked so sick, very sick, she was looking at the wall and slowly looked over at her dad "hi honey" Mary said touching her leg but I didn't know what to say

Lizzie slowly looked up and seen me, she made a noise as if she was about to say something but she closed her eyes in pain, Mary looked at me then back at lizzie "Noah lets get some coffee" Mary said grabbing his arm, he slowly stood and quickly grabbed me and slammed me against the wall "dad" lizzie said grabbing his jacket weakly "you don't deserve her" he snarled, I clenched my jaw and looked into his eyes "sir I don't mean to be rude or disrespectful but if you don't let me go I'll have to arrest you" I said

He glared at me and pushed me harder against the wall "on what grounds" he said "threating a police officer" i said "Riley's a cop dad" lizzie crocked, Noah looked at her and released me, they left the room and closed the door behind them, I sat down and rubbed my eyes before looking at her "so when where you planning on telling me that you where a druggie" I asked making sure she knew I was pissed

"Riley, we don't even know each other that well, what you think I should have just told you last night or something?" She said having slight difficulty talking, I stood up and looked at her rage building inside me "maybe you shouldn't have been stupid! You didn't have to take those drugs but you did and that's why I'm angry lizzie!" I growled pointing my finger at her then i began pacing the room

She lifted her shaky hands to her face and covered her eyes, "don't cry" I said "you knew what you where doing and I'm not sugar coating it like your parents, that's why you continue taking that shit! You need a firm hand to say fucking stop it!" I said pulling her hands away from her face, I closed her eyes and bit her lip "you're spoilt and you can't take it when someone tells you that you are in the wrong!" I shouted, I grabbed the chair and fixed it, and felt her hand touch my hand

I looked down and then looked at her before pulling my hand out of hers "sort yourself out!" I snapped "Riley" she said as I walked out the room.

2 weeks later

"Benson you need a bath my friend and you need that fur cut" I said stroking him as I read the last couple sentences of my chapter in my book "to maggie's?" I said, he jumped up and wagged his tale "Jesus your fur grows way to fast, I'm gonna have to purchase a dog grooming kit" I said to him closing my book and stroking him

I clipped his lead onto his collar and grabbed my stuff before we left, I had no need for my car today so I decided because the sun was out and it was really hot to walk benson the whole way there "maybe lizzie will be there" I said to benson "I know how much you like her" I said and benson just stopped and looked at me, like to say 'dude you're the one who likes her', I seen the groomers straight ahead and my heart began to beat a bit faster

We finally got there and lizzie was inside cleaning the counters and sweeping the floor, I opened the door and walked inside, she looked at me shocked and stopped what she was doing "hey" she whispered "hi" I said releasing bensons lead, he walked over to her and rubbed against her leg and even when she stroked him she still looked at me

I moved forward slightly still looking in her eyes and suddenly she grabbed my shirt and hugged me, I didn't move my hands still at my sides and slowly I moved my hands up and around her "you were right" she whispered "I sorted myself out" she added, I sighed and stroked her hair and bit my lip, benson walked around us and then lay down on the floor.
