Okay, so before confusion, they lied about their ages! Ruka was actually taller, like she's normal sized teenager, she got shorter in their world. Don't worry, she'll be back to normal sized next time she goes back there. And Rin, well, the story starts right off when it's her birthday so I though it would be obvious.
You see, when they filled out the resident's sheets, they put thirteen so they could train, instead of being tested and so they would have less suspition on them.
