I will toss and turn in bed until my eyes turn red from all the thinking,

my thoughts play around in my head, twisting all my beliefs into some foreign being even I don't recognise anymore.

I will feel this burn in my heart and I'll clench my chest as my heart races.

I will feel my rib cage collapsing beneath my skin, and the smoke will rot my insides in a hurricane of nicotine and brokenness,

but I will sleep by your side at night and take your hand, hold it so close to my heart as I try to mimic the rhythm of your breathes, and I will hold onto you for sanity, and I will love you as long as I breathe. I will love you.
