I hurried inside the building after running in the rain. I was pretty sure a lot of people were staring, how can that girl forget an umbrella? That’s what they’re all probably thinking. I briskly walked up the stairs to my dorm room only to see a bunch of roses lying in front of the door. I got a closer look and was surprised to see that what’s keeping the flowers together was that the stems were twisted together. I picked it up and checked the letter attached to it,

It’s bugging me

Grating me

And twisting me around

Yeah I’m endlessly caving in

And turning inside out

I chuckled. Let’s just see what Dan has in store for me. No matter how much I wanted to say yes to him yesterday, I pretended that I wasn’t interested. What kind of a lady would I be if I said yes and tackled him then and there? He asked the question right before the professor entered the classroom. Every single one of our classmates was facing us. Dan, looking more confident than usual, actually had everyone listen to him on what he had to say to me.

I entered my room and placed the flowers on my bed. I took a sneak at my window. I was pretty sure Dan knew that he could see me from here. I knew I could easily get distracted once I look up from my desk, when I could see the outside.

When I got ready to leave the next morning, I remembered the surprise Dan had for the day. I carefully opened my door again to see a Green Tea Frappe from Starbucks. It didn’t look like it’s been staying there long. The thought that someone had been outside my dorm room bothered me a little, but maybe I was overthinking things. I got the letter attached to my favourite order,

I saw Dan a couple of times throughout the day. He smiled at me and I would also smile in return. He asked me about what he had given me yesterday and earlier today. When should I say yes? Perhaps by the end of the song lyrics from one of my favourite songs, that’s when I would tell him my answer. That was his plan all along. He still had three more opportunities to woo me.

While I was studying, a light was flashing through my window. I checked and saw Dan holding a note, “What time will you be waking up tomorrow?” I shook my head lightly; I got my paper and permanent marker, “maybe 6:30 am?” I raised the paper to show him. He nodded and wrote another, “Check your door after you wake up then.” I stared at him confused but he just nodded and pulled his curtains closed. I scoffed, what just happened?

I woke up at 6:30 with a knock on the door. I groaned, but then I remembered Dan. I opened the door, just enough for my head to peek out. I was surprised to catch Dan in his pyjamas. I was about to open the door further but decided against it. I cleared my throat, “Can I help you?”
