Cupids Aim
by sloanranger
I'd set terms in my mind long ago,
if it happened again I would know -
not to rush in,
take time and then
just see how things would go.
Without knowing I was attracting
the very thing I was exacting -
you came and you offered
what I had proferred,
look now, how I've been acting.
Perhaps it's the dance or the game,
or I didn't expect the same,
thing that I'd asked -
at least not so fast –
when out of the blue, you came.
So let's continue to play this game
and rather than stake a claim –
get to know one another
before we become lovers,
and answer to Cupid's aim.
