Worth The Wait

The line was read silently.

"Why do you insist on wasting my time. I'm not saying this again."

"Cover the balance then we will discuss further and Frank, do so before I feel the need to come to find you."

"Yes, Mr. Russo but - " he attempted to press his case further but the phone was back on the hook before he could think to finish.

My desk was covered with various paperwork. Dragging the first stack closer I began reviewing the trade documents.

Frank was just one of our many client's but he was a sucker when it came to paying up. I was taking no chances with him and if he didn't like it I'd pay him a friendly visit to clear the air.

I moved to the second stack, my eyes already tired from reading the fine prints my mind was already clouded with thoughts of a certain woman only a few doors down.

I dropped my pen in frustration. I've read the same sentence for the last five minutes and still couldn't make sense of it.

Rolling my sleeves up, I leaned back in the chair with my hands behind my head.

I wished I could have her here. I knew she would make the process a whole lot better. An unnecessary distraction but I'm strong enough to fight the pull.

I gave up.

Walking down the hall I came to my stop, bracing against the cold metal of the door.

She wasn't yet aware of my presence and I took the opportunity to observe her every move.

The purple handprint around the length of her neck shown brightly against her pale skin and I did my best to ease my anger. I didn't want to be like that around her.

Clad in clothing too big for her small frame she appeared to drown in the soft fabric yet, I couldn't take my eyes off her.

I couldn't help but admire the firm, supplant flesh that adorned her chest or the way she owned the outfit like the oversize structure was the idea of the style.

As much I wished I was immune to it, I couldn't ignore the allure of her feminine figure. Her mouth-watering scent did nothing to help. The sight of her ripe nipples hard with the chill of the room fighting against her shirt was testing my resolve.

I looked at her beautiful face and I couldn't help but smile. Her lips pouted as she was lost in a spiral of her thoughts.

Her eyes were what made me come undone. Bright and sheltered by her long lashes they were positioned perfectly on her face with a sharp nose and juicy pink lips for accessories.

I watched her pulled her bottom lip between her teeth and my cock twitched. I cleared my throat hoping to free my mind of such thoughts.

What I hadn't expected, however, was for Sasha to become startled and fall to the ground with my sister crashing behind her.

Both women floored and entangled glared at me; Adelina more so than Sash.

With a tiny chuckle, I approached them, picking Sasha's still startled body up from the cold floor. I placing her on the bed once again.

Her hair fell silkily over her shoulders and down her back. The large nest she once sported now completely gone. It was replaced by a shiny mane that I itched to run my fingers through.

I watched her cheeks burn red under my gaze.

"Thank you, Aaron. It's nice of you to help your dear sister."

Sasha giggled quietly at her sarcasm and it was the most adorable sound I have ever heard.

I smiled at her watching as a lock of hair fell out of place when she bowed her head to peek at me from below her lashes.

Reaching out I placed it behind her ear, she flinched back. Her body freezing in its place.

My heart ached.

"It's the view for me," my sister said oblivious of the moment we were sharing.

Sasha looked at me then down at Ava and back again.

She hopped off the bed as gracefully as she could with all her injuries.

I held my breath in fear of making a wrong move.

I relished in the amazing feeling of having her so close. Her scent was so fucking heavy I wanted to take big gulps of air, just taking all of her in.

In those moments I was on a high like no other. My body hummed with such satisfaction I felt my control slipping.

She slid beside me soon after and I watched her struggle to pull a giggling Ava up. She held her lips between her teeth her legs spread in a determined stance.

Giving up on her silly game my sister added the much-needed effort and her body bounced from its laying position.

Pulling Sasha into her arms she placed a kiss on her cheek causing it to flush red.

"At least somebody in this cruel world loves me," she said shoot an accusing dagger my way.

I stood back looking at her unimpressed but internally I was duly amused.

Letting go of my girl she ran her hand through her now free hair. "Would you like a French braid," she asked gently pulling Sasha to sit beside her on the bed.

I watched as Sash sat playing with her fingers; pale blue adorning their tips.

Ava made quick work braiding her hair. She led her to the mirror at the corner of the room and I observed the way she took in her reflection.

She analyzed every detail with deep interest.

"Thank you," she said so low I thought I might have imagined it.

V and I shared a look of surprise before the little minion began jumping on the spot and clapping her hands like the lunatic she was.

"She said her first word."

"Her voice is so cute Russo. Did you? hear it."

"Awww, look she's blushing too. Talk about adorable."

"Ava stop embarrassing the girl."

"Shut the fuck up Russo," she huffed stomping her feet like a tantrum-throwing kindergarten.

I couldn't help but chuckle at her antics. Twenty-three three years old but she had the heart and sometimes brain size of a kid.

My family was one big community of crazy people but my sister was the worst. She was spontaneous and mindbogglingly persistent.

She was confident and she was kind. I knew she was the best person for the situation. She'd help Sasha overcome her demons and live the life she was born to.

Every time I looked at her a piece of me ached.

I've seen how destructive the pain she carries can be. I know the way the memories can invade you and can tear a person to bits - the shiny too much to bear.

I knew the horror of seeing someone you love in such pain but not being able to do anything to help.

I knew because I watched my sister go through it. I watched her shed her pain becoming exceedingly stronger than she ever was before.

That's all I hoped for Sasha; that she would find light in the darkness.

I knew it might be a while before I could hold her close and not have her flinching.

It would be some time before she'd willing come to me. She wouldn't be afraid I'd hurt her and trust that I'd keep her safe from everything.

It might be a while but I knew she was worth the wait.
