Embers
there is something about you,
something about
how you burn so brightly
even when smothered by ashes.
there are embers
in your eyes
and underneath your skin
and in your blood
and you aren't made of star-stuff,
you're made of flame and fire and ember,
made to burn and blink in the dark of
the night.
there is something about you,
something about the way
you're made of flame and fire and ember
that chases away my endless night of ashes.
dear, you are an ember in the ashes.
and may you be a torch against the night.
A/N:
I was inspired by the book An Ember in the Ashes to write this poem. It's an excellent book and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU READ IT!!!
I can hardly wait for the sequel, A Torch Against the Night. ;)
