ah, the second movement.
the slow movement.
the beautiful, sad one.
but this isn't so slow - it isn't so sad.
it's...pleasant.
like childhood.
the second violin jumps naïvely from string to string,
laughing as it skips along;
the cellist has to work hard,
he's got so many notes going everywhere
and has to alternate between
pizzicato and arco so quickly.
the viola has longer phrases here,
holding everything together:
it's like the mother
watching the child,
happily and contentedly
but the worry is still there -
the wariness for any danger.
the first violin is the background - for once!
i can hear...oh, the stream rushing by, slowly
trickling. i can almost
smell the woods, just
from this music.
it's coming to life.
