Dylan’s P.O.V.

I couldn’t help but back away from the… monstrosity that had emerged from the shadows in the trees. Somewhere down the line something had gone wrong with this one.

“What are you?” The question echoed around us, I didn’t even know I was about to say it out loud until I heard my own voice in my ears. The response was just a growl, low and menacing but nothing like I had ever heard before. This thing stood before me is what nightmares are made of.

Stood tall on its hind legs is the basic shape of a wolf, everything is anatomically correct from the muzzle to the tip of the tail, yet at the same time it is still so human. The eyes shine a bright and vibrant yellow and show off a vast intelligence, the hands are just that hands, like a humans, with long hairy fingers but instead of nails there are sharp claws. The face has completely transformed so that it is the head of a wolf yet there is little fur, the thing that your eyes are automatically drawn too are the teeth, not because they are big and sharp, so are mine, but because there are way to many of them to fit in this things mouth hence the immense amount of drool that is forming in a puddle at its feet, it can literally not close its mouth properly. It is like this person was halfway through transformation but got stuck in the middle somewhere between wolf and human. This truly is a werewolf.

The one thing that I note with relief is that it is only the size of a tall human and would do well in a game of basketball; my wolf shouldn’t have a problem with something of such size.

I watch as it lopes about on two legs, such an unusual and unnatural sight to behold. If I didn’t know any better I would think it was pacing, but that’s crazy right? Its bright yellow eyes land on Bella and it sniffs the air, catching her scent as it is carried in the wind, I automatically growl in defence making sure that it knows she isn’t unprotected.

“What do you want?” I don’t know why I keep trying to address the thing but anything is better than this uneasy stand off. A howl bursts from the beast and the bones beneath its skin begin to move, even with the distance between us I can see them shifting and realigning themselves, its enough to make a person feel sick. I take a precautionary step back, who knows what this thing will do next. The cracking noises coming from below the surface make me cringe and the beast whimpers as it transforms into the shape of a man, the alteration even causes it physical pain, unlike my own transformation where the pain is present but is masked effectively with a sense of complete calm, evolution has obviously not done this thing any favours. I almost feel sorry for it… almost.

The man that is suddenly in front of me straightens up and power radiates of him in waves, even completely naked he has an aura of authority. He would seem to be in his early forties and has black hair that is speckled with grey, his eyes are no longer yellow but a more natural watery blue and at the risk of sounding like I am checking the guy out his body is toned but not muscular, his chest is as far as my eyes are going though!

“Who are you?” I have to admit there is a certain wonderment to my voice, I mean what I have just seen is pretty incredible.

“Is it not obvious? I am The Dark Wolf and you have caused me a great deal of trouble.” His voice is deep and clam, the fact that he is naked in field seems to be of little concern to him.

“I have caused you trouble? Are you kidding me!” I think I am seeing red right now and I don’t stop to think about who has just introduced themselves to me as I launch into my onslaught “You kidnap a girl and ask for a ransom, then hold us hostage and then my mate is nearly murdered by your guys and I have caused you trouble!” He looks at me and then at Bella but his facial expression is just one of mild amusement, like everything I just said is one big joke that isn’t to his taste.
