I like to think that Rey and Kylo grew up together, training together, before Kylo messed up and went to the dark side. I just like to imagine little Rey always playing around with angsty teenage Kylo and wanting to grow up to be just as cool as he was. And he'd look after her and defend her when the other younglings made fun of her. And he'd give her piggyback rides and tell her all the names of great Jedi from the past and teach her all these different techniques with the force and she's really look up to him. Then one day, he snaps, he ruins everything and he scares her. Little Rey never wanted to speak to him again.
