I open my eyes and realise it's nearly midday! But I don't understand why this surprises me, I never get up particularly early when I don't have work. I feel a pang of embarrassment and then realise, I'm still here, not in my own house or my own bed but in Japan. Great.
I go and find Tatsuo and try to explain my situation to him but he doesn't seem to get it, I eventually give up, I feel tears brimming and I go to sit by the trees and watch the family drive off on their way to see their mother, I can't help but envy their mother, she gets Satsuki and Mei and a husband. Duncan's face comes to mind and my tears spill over, I'll never see him again.
I repeat it over and over, I'll never see him again, I'll never get to tell him I-
