Chapter 2 ~ Apples:

I ran down the streets looking for sand boy, we promised to meet yesterday, I was excited to see him again, my first ever friend my age! I looked down at my shoulder bag that held that red thing I had found. I wonder what it is! Sand boy seems smart about the outside, he must know!

I spoted his head, he was sitting infront of a puddle in one of the few sand free guters. I plopped down next to him and he jumped from suprise.

"What ya lookin at, sand boy?!" I cheered. In the puddle, a leaf with a wounded bird on it was drfting ever so slowly to the grate. Almost instenly, I gently picked up the wounded bird and cradled it in my hand. It was a few bit smaller than my hand. I pooked it's chest while Sand boy watched with as much intrest as me.

"It's still alive!" I cheered as I felt it's heart pump. Sand boy made a suprised yet releaved face at the good news. "Come on, lets find somewherre to take care of it!" I said standing up. Sand boy looked at me puzzled but stood up any way.

I grabbed one of his hands with my free one. "I saw an abandoned house that was in good shape on my way here!" I said before pulling him in the direction I had came.

~~~
I looked down at the hole in the second story and two planks put over them that me and Sand boy put there to walk across. I looked back down at the woden bird. It was a red one and hadn't opened its eyes yet.
I looked back at Sand boy who was playing with his sand. I smilled and walked up behind him.
"You, know, if it wasn't for you, the bird would of died." I said quietly. He didn't jump this time so he must be getting used to me popping up. He went, hn, and continued to play with the sand.
I smiled, he was so adorible.I leaned onto his shoulder he looked at me for a minute then went back to his sand. His shoulder wasn't as big as most people I'v laid on but he was the most warm.
"Strange, why isn't my  sand keeping you off?" he said. I giggled and watched the sand.
"Maybe because you like me!" I sang. Sand Boy blushed yet tried to hide it. Then a thought came to my mind. I sat back up straight and searched through my never ending side bag. I pulled out the red thing.
"Hey, Sand boy, what's this?!" I sang. He looked at me as if I was stupid.
"An apple," he simply said. An apple, it looks good. But, is it poisonous.
"Is it posionous?" I asked looking at as if I had descovered fire. Well was it. Sand boy started laughing a little a bit.
"No, where have you been living, under a rock?!" he laughed. I puffed out my cheecks that were now bright red. I looked down at the 'apple' and  held it up next to Sand boy's head, he didn't notice. Heh, the apple was the same color as his hair!
"Ha! You're an apple head!" I laughed. it was his turn for his face to turn red. I couldn't help but snicker.
"S-shut up, you're a... a... a Blueberry head!" he exclaimed. Oh no he just didn't!
~~~

"Say it!" I ordered. I was giving Sandboy a headlock. He threw me off and pinned me to the floor.

"Never!" he exclaimed I tried to change it to where I was pinning him ontop but instead we went back and forth so quickly, it was like we were roolling on the floor. I couldn't help but laugh as I got dizzy from the spinning It ended up with him pinning me down again because I could keep myself straight.

"You say it!" he ordered with moking in his voice. I kept on laughing and turned to my side.

"O-okay, i give up!" I said trying to stop laughing. He made a satisfied face and rolled of me. we just stayed like that foor a while, with only my laughing as a sound.

When I had finnaly stopped I proped up on my elbows and look over to the apple headed sand boy that was laying down with his arms and legs spread. I smiled to myself.

"what are you smiling about?" he asked looking at me from the cornor of his eye. I opened my eyes yet my smile still there.

"Why don't you ever smile?" I asked tilting my head a little. He looked at me questionaly.

"Because I can't," he said looking up at the ceiling. I smiled smally, geez, what life has this person been living?

"If that's thae case," I exclaimed "then let me smile for you!" He looked at me as if I was crazzy.

"What?" he asked, still that look of crazy on his face. I made a closed eyes smile

"I want to smile for you!" I cheered smiling with my eyes closed. The sand boy looked at me as if I was crazy.

He laughed and looked back up at the ceiling.

"How can you do that when you don't even know my name?" I thought about it. Now that I think of it, I DIDN'T know his name. I laid down next to him.

"Than, what is?" I asked, still smiling. He looked at me and sighed.

"Gaara," he said. He has a nice name. I looked over to the woounded bird who was now standing and trotting over to us. I stuck out my open hand and let the burd trople into it.

"Okay then, Gaara-san, I'll be smiling for the both of us now, untill you can do it yourself," I said helping the bird stand back up.
