Chapter 1

"Aurora!" Danny called from behind me, while strutting down the hall to meet me.

Yes, strutting. Danny is my gay friend. In my opinion, everyone needs a gay friend. The fact that he's immune to my charm makes it even better. Not because he's gay, though.

"Hey Danny man!" He crushed me in a hug.

"I've missed you so much!" He gushed. "Why did you have to spend the whole summer in France?!"

I sighed in exasperation. "Family vacay, remember? There's no escaping the evil wrath of my mother when I refuse to participate in family activities."

"True, true. So, any hot guys?" He wiggled his eye brows.

"Plenty! Though I was much too busy to go after any," I peered at him from under my blonde bangs.

I know what you're thinking. Blonde hair. Undeniably charming, thanks to my curse.

Danny nodded, "I understand."

"It's not much fun when there's no actual chase, either." I added.

There are three people on this planet earth that know about my charm. My mother, Danny, and Ivy. Ivy is my only close female friend. Once, I unwillingly caused her crush to fall for me. This, in turn, made her pretty upset....leaving me with no choice but to explain. Call me crazy, but she was my closest friend. Lucky for me, she believed me. That is, after I proved myself.

"Which one?" I peered into the crowd of people gathered at the center of the mall.

"That one," she pointed at a guy that was wearing a light blue sweater, a purple scarf, and a pair of rather tight jeans.

His posture and poise practically shouted, 'Gay!' She was really putting me up to the test.

About twenty minutes later I marched back towards Ivy, the guy she had chosen in tow.

"Ivy, this is Danny," I introduced him to her.

"Hi, Danny!" She smiled brightly, but Danny ignored her.

"You have beautiful eyes," Danny whispered in my ear.

"See," I turned to Ivy.

"Wow. I'm impressed," she looked at me. "You're forgiven!"

Now, after I explained to Danny exactly why he was attracted to me, he snapped out of it pretty quickly.

Ivy came out of nowhere, "senior year! We've gotta make it the best!" She squealed. "You know what that means, Ro. We're gonna find you a guy."

I laughed in spite of myself, "good luck with that!"
