When You See Him

These nights the stars aren't so bright,

The moon hardly shines anymore.

Sometimes the pain, I can barely take it,

If you saw me now, you'd be so disappointed.

Everything we worked for all went up in flames,

I'm still trying to pull my blackened heart from the wreckage.

You always told me "Chin up,

Don't ever let them see you fall.

Keep your feet on the ground,

And your head out of the clouds.

Don't ever fall for the bad boy

And don't be seduced by the charmer.

You'll know him when you see him,

You'll know it in your heart."

But what am I supposed to do

When the one I belong to

Already belongs to another?

The only one who can fix my heart

And he breaks it every time I see him?

Where are you now, why aren't you here?

I'm screaming for help and no one sees it.

Why can't you be here to protect me now?

You told me,

"When you find the one,

Don't ever let him go.

Give life your best shot,

Don't be afraid to speak your mind

To the one that really matters.

And you'll know him when you see him."

What do I do when he lets go of me,

When do I move on, or should I wait?

You always gave the best advice,

And I never thought I'd be this lost without you,

But suddenly I'm all alone

With no one to turn to.

Everything you said to me,

You made it sound so simple.

Why didn't you tell me it would be this hard,

That it was such a long hard journey?

You said to me,

"Someday everything will be alright.

You gotta hold on to the ride,

And you'll have to fight to be with him,

But I swear to you, it's worth it.

And you'll know him when you see him."
