I groaned as Jack pressed an ice pack to my eye.

"Man. Fucker got me good." I said, holding the ice pack over my black eye.

Bastard is a real runner.

As big as he is, he sure is fast.

And we cornered him, he went down swinging and clipped my in the eye.

"If you had just waited like I told you to, this wouldn't have happened." Jack muttered.

"You should know better. When do I ever listen to you?" I asked.

Jack chuckled and kneeled in front of me.

He moved the ice pack gently and looked me over.

"Gonna hurt for a bit but nothing looks broken." He said.

"It's fine. I've been hit harder." I said.

Jack chuckled again and stood up.

"Good job out there Carter. We make a great team." He said.

I snorted and threw the ice pack down on my desk.

"Don't even think about it Jack. I work alone." I said simply.

He waved his arms in surrender.

"Fine. At least let me buy you dinner." Jack suggested.

I opened my mouth to answer but I got a text.

I looked down at my black berry and saw a text from a number I didn't recognize.

I squinted my eyes and read the message.

My heart went into overdrive.

'Hey Mia, it's Matt. I was just wondering if maybe you wanted to have breakfast at my place tomorrow? 'It said.

I smiled widely and tried to control my urge to squeal and jump up and down.

I typed back quickly.

'Yeah that sounds great. Meet you around 10?' I answered.

'10 is good. I'll text you the address.' Hey said.

I grinned widely.

'Great I'll see you tomorrow then.' I replied.

'I'll see you tomorrow Mia.' It said.

I cradled my phone to my chest and sighed.

Yes!

He is interested!

I yelped when someone poked me in my side.

I turned and saw Jack looking at me with a weird expression.

"What the hell has you grinning like a fool?" He asked.

I smiled even wider and stood up.

"Oh nothing." I sang, walking around him.

"It's that guy isn't it?" He asked, his voice tense.

I smiled as I turned back and winked.

"Night Jack." I called back.

I practically floated to my car and the ride home was a blur.

It felt like I was tossing and turning all night.

I was too anxious to sleep.

I just wanted to see Matt already.

This has never happened to me.

I've never been anxious about a date with a guy.

Sure I've been excited, but never like this.

I finally gave in and got up.

I looked at the clock and it was six in the morning.

"Awesome." I muttered.

I crawled out of bed and made my way to the bathroom.

I looked between the tub and the shower.

"Why not? I have time." I said to myself as I plugged up the tub and started filling it with hot water.

I threw some bubbles in and watched as the tub filled up.

I shut the water off and undressed, dipping my toes into the water.

Nice and hot.

Just the way I like it.

I sink deep into the tub, the boiling water seeping deep into my tired muscles.

I reached up and gently touched my eye, feeling around the socket.

It was still puffy and no doubt gonna be black tomorrow.

Great.

Gonna look like a raccoon.

That's a way to make an impression.

I met my mind clear as the water warned me and brought me into a state of relaxation.

I felt my eyelids start to flutter closed and I smiled.

Finally, some rest.

So I let the relaxation take over me.

It felt like I'd only been sleeping a minute, but when I finally woke up, the water was cold and I was shivering.

I stood up quickly and wrapped the towel around myself, drying the excess water.

I walked into my room and turned the clock on my night stand.

8:30.

Wow.

Two and a half hours in that tub.

I looked down at myself and saw that my hands were prunie.

I went to my closet and got dressed quickly, putting light make up an throwing my hair up in a bun.

I looked around for my leather jacket and finally found it, spraying some perfume before grabbing my bag and keys and making my way out the door.

It took me about half an hour to make it to Matthew's house and by then it was almost ten o'clock.

I smiled at my punctuality.

I made sure I locked my car up tight before I turned and faced Matt's house.

I smiled.

It was actually really nice.

A simple two story but I could tell a lot of thought was put into it.

The yard was a little messy but that made me smile.

He's not home a lot.

So it makes sense.

I took in a deep breath and I walked up to the door.

I stood there for a minute.

My heart was racing and my palms were starting to sweat.

"Get a grip, Mia." I told myself.

I raised my hand, and quickly knocked.

I tried to control my breathing as I heard footsteps and a dog's loud barking coming from inside.

The door swung open and there he was.

A golden retriever bounded out and jumped up, licking my face.

I laughed as I scratched behind her ears.

"Bella, down. Sorry about that." Matt said with a laugh.

"It's okay. I love dogs." I told him.

A huge smile was across his face when he saw me, but then it faltered.

"Mia. What the hell happened to your face?" He exclaimed.

I tried not to laugh.

"Its, uh, well it's a long story." I told him.

The worry in his eyes did weird things to my already racing heart.

He opened the door wider and let me in.

"Why don't you tell me about it." He suggested.

I smiled and followed him inside.
