Chapter 30

•in the afternoon•
"Oh my god. That was the longest flight ever." I said.

Lucas came up to me with Annie in his hands. "Well her first flight is over with."

I looked at Annie who had been crying most of the flight.

I was guessing from what I've heard before it was because her ears were popping from being in the air for so long.

I really hate when that happens.

"Did you see all those looks we got?" I said.

He nodded. "Yeah."

We started walking to get our bags.

I still had my crutches with me, which was surprisingly better than a wheelchair.

Once we got to baggage claim, we watched as all the bags came down and went around in a circle.

I suddenly saw our bags and pointed out. "There they are."

"I'll get them." Lucas said quickly.

He came back a few minutes later with everything, still holding Annie.

"Lucas give me Annie I don't want to risk dropping her again."

"Again?" Lucas said, raising her eyebrow.

I blinked. "Uhhh...it's a long story."

It really wasn't, but Lucas didn't need to know anything else. It was a complete accident obviously.

Also it was on carpet, so....

Anyways...

"Just give her to me. I have a cast remember." I said.

He handed me Annie and I put my weight down on my ankle.

I could walk, but it hurt.

Lucas looked down at his phone. "My brother is picking us up."

"Only your brother?"

He nodded, putting his phone away.

"That's a relief." I said.

He looked at me and I said, "I'm kidding obviously!"

We started walking towards the entrance. "You better behave yourself."

I rolled my eyes playfully. "I'm sorry I'm just tired I've been up since 4 am and I just want to sleep."

He nodded. "Okay. My old house isn't as far from here anyways."

I remember visiting Lucas's house in Texas when we were dating in high school..

I can't believe it happened in junior year...so much has changed since then.

Before I could say anything aloud, I heard someone calling Lucas's name

"Lucas!" The voice said.

Lucas turned around and smiled. "Derek hey!"

I watched them hug and then start talking about things I didn't understand.

I think he was two or three years older! I don't even remember...

After what seemed like forever, I wasn't invisible.

"Hey Maya." Derek said.

He then looked at Annie in my hands. "So this is 'the baby'?"

'The baby.' Okay.

Lucas just nodded. "Yeah and she has a name ya know."

"Oh sorry about that."

I just nodded. "It's okay."

"Wonder how mom and dad are gonna feel about that, huh?" Derek said laughing at himself.

Lucas raised his eyebrows at him and Derek grabbed our bags.

"My car is right outside, I'll meet you guys there." He said, walking away.

He disappeared and I looked at Lucas. "So he hasn't really changed."

Lucas grabbed my free hand and held onto it tightly.

"He's a jerk, I can say that because Hes my brother. Don't worry about it."

We walked out of the airport to go find him again.

I've had writers block and this chapter is pretty much a filler.
