Hi! Thanks for reading. I know it isn't Wednesday, but i'm still updating. I might be re-naming the story soon, depending on what turn it takes. Don't forget to check out my other stories, vote, and comment! (Wow, self promo much?)

-----------------------------------

"What's going on?" I ask, opening my eyes. "Callie!" Someone exclaims. "Wes?" I reach my hand out, my vision blurry. I feel a face, and a hand on my arm. "Yeah, it's me." Wes says and pushes my arm down. "What's happening?" I ask. The ceiling is white, and i feel around around me. "You got shot." Wes says.

Shot? The words ring through my mind. Then i start to remember everything. I look down, and see my whole side covered in red, and a hand pressed to cloth on my wound. "James?" He has his arms around me. I must have fallen. "Wait, are we still in the cafeteria?" I ask. "Yeah." Wes says after a pause. "Where is Wendall?" I ask, suddenly panicked. "everyone got out." James says. "Including the guys?" I ask. "No, I stayed. All they need is an injured girl to have the police station send the usual hostage things. Money, bus tickets, off-shore accounts. We heard the talking." Wes says.

"Then why didn't you leave?" I ask. "We couldn't leave you here." I hear a familiar voice. "Lace?" "It's me. Two of the guys took a bathroom break. The other is staring at us like we're the criminals." She chuckles forcefully. "Don't hold it against Wendall, he was scared out of his mind." Lace says. I nod, closing my eyes and leaning my head back. I was tired, talking had taken everything out of me. Then my vision started to blacken.

"Lace?" I called out, stretching my arms out in front of me. "Callie?" I felt a body lean beside me. "Callie, what's wrong?" I blink quickly, but the edges of my vision are black. The last thing i see is Lace's head leaning over me. "Callie?" Wes asks. "I can't see." I shout out. "Your eyes are open, can you see my hand?" he asks. "No, i can't see..." I pause. I'm lethargic, i could hear the blood pounding in my ears. "Callie? your eyes are closing!" Lace shouts. "Be quiet!" a husky voice says. "Why don't you? You're losing your hostage." Lace snaps. "It'd be better if she died, shows we're serious. We'll just shoot another one of you." I don't hear a reply from Lace, but i'm shifted onto the ground. I'm laying on the ground. "James?" My comfort is gone, my safety and my sight are gone. I can't move my arm and all i feel is the ground. "Wes, Lace? Answer me!" I start panicking. "Please!" I'm flailing my hands around like crazy, needing to know someone is there. Then my hands are gripped strongly. "Wes?" I ask. I'm yanked up with force, not Wes. "No!" James yells out, it sounds far away.

"Get up." One of them snaps. "She can't..." I hear Lace, but she's cut off. "Lace?" I say out. "They want you." Someone snaps into my ear. "What?" The man leads me through what i think it he cafeteria. My side screams out in pain. "Where are you taking me?" A door opens and i'm thrown out. "There she is!" Someone screams. I don't recognize this voice, but i'm picked off from the ground where i was thrown down. "Get her on a stretcher!" Soon people were screaming all around me. "Heart deficiency, her sight gave out!" Someone yells. "Where are her parents?" "Where's the rest of them?" "Get the people out!" "Why aren't the cops doing anything?" And then a quiet, close by female voice whispers something. "Ok honey, don't worry. This is going to knock you out and when you'll wake up you'll be fine."
