As a child, you had spent countless hours in the palace armory with your father. Being the head knight he maintained and kept track of every weapon. He taught you how to sharpen the swords and how to polish them so well that you enemies might have been blinded at a mere glance.

"You put my men to shame Y/N..." He chuckled.

"...You shall make an excellent knight one day."

You giggled, struggling to lift the (at the moment) large, silver claymore, "Oh father you're silly. I'm not strong enough to be one of the King's knights."

"Rubbish! You're growing stronger everyday, in fact just a fortnight ago you were unable to even lift that sword." He told you.

You looked at the sword you had just placed in the rack, and turned back to him. "Father? Do you really believe that I could become a knight like you?"

He smiled, waving you to come over to him. He pick you up and placed you on his lap. He kissed your cheek before whispering, "You, my dearest Y/N can conquer anything you wish."

The tender moment only lasted for a moment, before there was a knock at the door. Peering from behind it was one of the many servants assigned to the royal family.

"Sir, the young master requested a play mate for the afternoon. I thought, maybe if miss Y/N was no longer-"

"Of course. The prince and Y/N may spend the rest of the day together if he wishes. We have finished here." You father smiled, giving you a light pat on the back.

"REALLY?" A young boy's voice squealed behind the door.

The prince pushed it open, and his eye immediately looked to you. He happily skipped over to you before giving a bow. "I'm Liam! Do you want to play with me in the garden?"

"Okay!" You smiled jumping down from your fathers lap.

You remembered your first view of the garden perfectly. The rose bushes seemed to touch the clouds, and a fountain that was framed in Carrera granite. Prince Liam, who had taken you by the hand, brought you in the entrance of a hedge maze.

"Let's go to my secret spot." He grinned, pulling you closely behind.

Three lefts turns, four rights, brought you to a dead end. You thought that he had made a wrong turn somewhere along the way before he pulled back a part of the hedge, revealing his hidden paradise. An individual swing, a practice dummy, and two matching wooden swords. Prince Liam grabbed his swords and gave one to you.

"Here, I'll be the King so this is my sword and you can be my knight, and that can be your sword." He smiled.

"How are we going to tell them apart Liam?" You asked looking at the sword he had placed in your hand.

"Hmm..I know! We can carve our names into them..." He cheered.

"...Help me look for a pointy rock."

You nodded, and scanned the ground, before spotting a one and giving it to Liam. He scrapped his name on to his sword, and then gave the rock to you. Slowly, but surely your sword soon had your name chiseled into it.

"Now we will who's sword is who's and we will be friends, okay?" He said looking at your sword.

"Even when you're the King and I'm a knight?" You asked, thinking back to what your father had said earlier.

"Yeah, always" He nodded.
