After waiting for what seemed like an hour, Louise never showed and Mr. Monroe dismissed his fellow pack members from the clearing. They seemed unwilling at first but after a very stern set of growls they submitted. Their huge bodies scampered through the woods, back to wherever they came from.

The sky began to darken, informing us that night was upon us and yet Mr. Monroe stayed put. The moonlight glistened off of his chest and his raven hair looked darker than ever. I watched him for a bit too long out of curiosity and admiration for his devilish looks. His cheekbones were sharp and his incoming beard were just enough to drive a girl crazy with lust. Ogling the beta was the only distraction I had to keep me from thinking of my reality.

How was I expected to live without my mother? A single tear trickled down my cheek but I did not attempt to wipe it away. Its small amount of warmth gave me hope that all would be okay.

"Ennis?" I whispered, waking my brother who was sprawled out beside me.

"What's wrong Kee?" he groaned.

"Can you expand the projection?"

"No. Why?" He replied.

"Ennis please, I need to use the bathroom." I needed a new distraction and finding and using a bathroom was the perfect one for the time being.

He rubbed his sleep filled eyes and tried to withhold an inevitable yawn. "My head hurts too much already. I can't strain myself, father's orders. Just go to sleep." I huffed out in annoyance and left my brother to his sleep.

I began to walk around the protected area and between the other sleeping fairies. They all looked so peaceful as they slept beside their loved ones. It was as though todays events were a thing of the past, a thing not to be mourned at the moment.

As I moved onward through the sleeping fae, I came across my father and grandfather. Unlike the others, they slept with strained faces. Today my grandfather lost his best friend and his daughter. My father lost the love of his life, my mother.

I darted around on my bare, dirt stained feet. Bathroom? My new distraction had become a reality-- a necessity even. 'Bathroom' was the only word floating around in my head now. Unlike many of our people, I refused to do my business right in the open. Therefore, I was going to have to do something that could potentially put me in a lot of trouble.

Sure, I may be the princess of the fae but I cannot disobey all the rules that have been set. But as my mother would say, rules are meant to be broken.

Oh, how I love her wild side. Loved. My heart tightened at this realization and I did my best to push it out of my mind.

I made a beeline straight for Mr. Monroe. When he noticed my presence, his eyes scanned. I felt his eyes linger and I couldn't help but notice that is was quite... inappropriate? Within seconds, his eyes returned to their cold state and with an accompanying smirk.

I stood before him and the only thing separating us was the force field that Ennis had put up. I stared at his face and much to my surprise he was even more attractive than I had anticipated. He had dark grey eyes that seemed to be full of secrets and his lips were pink and plump. His lashes were long and his hair looked to be lush to the touch.

"Like what you see?" he asked, pulling me out of my trance. His smirk widened and his eyebrows arched with curiosity.

With his intense stare, I felt my cheeks begin to burn, "Uhm..."

"A shy one aren't we," he stated rather than questioned.

"I'm not shy," I retorted automatically. My cheeks flushed crimson.

"Oh really? You're blushing."

"How do you know?" I asked stupefied. It was dark out, how could he see?

"Oh, so you admit that you are blushing?"

I scoffed and felt my shameless blush creep down to my neck. "Honestly, I don't have time for this. I need to use a bathroom"

He chuckled, "sorry to burst your bubble fairy girl but you are not getting past me any time soon."

"Oh really," I challenged.

"Yes, really. You step out of this magical field thing that boy created and you are going to be locked up."

A smile graced my lips as a wicked thought entered my mind, "Oh Mr. Monroe, I do not think you realize how wrong you just so happen to be."

His brows burrowed together and yet his cocky smirk remained, "The name is Brett," he said. "And explain to me how you think you can get past me." He motioned towards his thick body.

I smiled and reached down to the hem of my dress and pulled it up to my mid-thigh. I continued to untie the white satin ribbon I had put around my thigh earlier this morning and released a small pouch holding a tiny bottle. I removed the bottle and examined it for a minute.

The powder within was white and would remind any other person of glitter. It glistened brighter than the sun, even on the darkest of nights. I let a knowing smile tug at my lips and removed the cork.

I looked up at Brett who was staring at me with his grey eyes wide. He looked to be mesmerized by the contents within my hands. If I was in his position, I would probably be just as bewildered.

I poured a modest amount of the powder into my palm and met Brett's eyes.

"Is that—" I didn't wait for him to finish speaking. I blew the powder directly onto his face--not leaving a speck to be wasted. It engulfed his nasal passage and he automatically fell to the ground in a deep sleep. Remnants of the powder were dusted across his face and I couldn't help but let out a chuckle. I lifted my dress again and put the powder away in order to keep it safe from the unknown.

Honestly, who did he think he was? Sure, he was the beta of some wolf pack but did he really think he could beat a fairy? Let alone a fairy with power?

For the first time, I stepped across the barrier of the force field and over Brett's sleeping body. Up until this this very moment in time, I had never felt so free. As I navigated away from my fellow fairies and the snoozing beta, I couldn't help but smile.

Fairy dust, I thought, works every time.
