Chapter Eight, A Huge Surprise

~Brick's P.O.V~

"Hey momoko, the kitchen looks nice", I said as I walked into the kitchen. Since momoko and I have the day off we decided to get some cleaning done. Momoko has been cleaning the kitchen for the past half hour so it looks so clean! She just started to mop the floor and it is already looking shinny! "Thank you, brick", momoko said as she smiled. "So are you excited for next weekend? Kaoru and butch are going to be so surprised when we show up at their door step", brick said. "I can't wait! This will be the best surprise visit ever!", momoko said. "I can't wait to see the look on their faces!", I said as I smiled. "I'm going to bring a bunch of sweets and cookies for them", momoko said. "They're going to be so happy", I said as I smiled. "I can't wait to see them! You have no idea how hard it is to keep this secret from them", momoko said. "I can only imagine. I know how hard it is for you to keep really big secrets", I said. "Don't worry. Ill do my best to keep this secret", momoko said. "Alright love. I'm gonna go clean up stairs. When we're all finished we can go out and get some thing to eat", I said. "Sounds good babe", momoko said as she smiled at me. Momoko has been pretty quiet for the last few days. Usually she only acts like this when she has a big secret she isn't telling. I'm not sure why she is acting like that towards me though. I know about the secret visit were planning. She can be an odd girl at times but I love her any way. "Alright", I said as I smiled. I walked out of the kitchen and over to the stairs. I quickly jogged up the stairs and entered the up stairs hallway. "Oh hello Gabriel", I said as I looked down and seen our cat sitting on the floor. "Meow!", Gabriel meowed as he looked up at me. I quickly walked passed Gabriel and into the bathroom. Okay so where should I start? I guess I could start cleaning by scrubbing the sink? Or I could even take out the trash first. That's an easy chore. I remember when I was younger I used to always hate taking out the garbage. But now that I'm older it doesn't bother me any more. Maybe it's all part of growing up? I quickly walked over to the cabinet and pulled out a sponge and a can of bathroom scrubbing bubbles cleaner. I started to walk over to the sink when suddenly I stepped on some thing... "MEOW!", Gabriel cried out. "Ahh!! Gabriel!", I yelled as I stumbled backwards and slipped on a T-shirt that had been left on the floor. I dropped the sponge and the can of cleaner as I flapped my arms around trying to grab onto something but it was to late. I slammed down on the floor with a hard thud. The can of cleaner fell and hit the hard floor with a loud bang. Suddenly Gabriel's tail puffed up in fear as he ran towards the toilet. Gabriel slammed into the small trash can by the toilet causing it to spill every where. "Aww man..", I muttered. "Brick? You okay?", momoko called. "Yeah! I'm fine", I yelled back. I slowly stood up and rubbed my thigh. Man that really hurt! I hope Gabriel is okay. "Hey Gabriel.. You okay buddy?", I asked as I walked over to the toilet. I crouched down and looked behind the toilet to see Gabriel cowering in fear. Poor little guy. I quickly grabbed Gabriel and stood up. I hugged him close to my chest and softly petted him. "It's okay buddy", I said as I walked to the bathroom door. Gabriel rubbed his head on my hand as he purred. "Alright little guy. You stay out here while I clean. I don't want to step on you again", I said as I set him down in the hallway. I watched Gabriel walk down the hall and into momoko and I's room. He usually sleeps in there so maybe he won't bug me any more while I'm cleaning. I turned and went back into the bath room. I looked at all the garbage on the floor that Gabriel had spilled. There were tissues, make up wipes, empty soap bottles and empty toilet paper rolls all over the floor by the toilet. I walked back over to the toilet and started to pick up the trash. I picked up all the bottles and the toilet paper rolls and put them back into the garbage can. I reach down and grabbed a hand full of the make up wipes revealing some thing on the ground. What's that? I put the wipes into the trash can then started to reach for the object. I stopped when realization hit me. "Oh my god..", I said. Is.. Is that a pregnancy test!? Who's is it!? It has to either be asuna's or... Momoko's. suddenly panic thoughts raced through my mind. Is this Momoko's!? Is she pregnant!? Is she going to have a baby!? Wait! No are WE going to have a baby!? Calm down brick!.. You didn't even look to see if it was positive! It could say negative! I slowly picked it up and turned it over. I looked at the test to see a pink plus sign. "Oh my god it's positive!", I said. So either asuna or momoko is pregnant! Wait.... When asuna, kirito, momoko and I went out for brunch asuna ordered a mimosa... That has alcohol in it! She wouldn't drink alcohol if she knew she was pregnant! So... It has to be momoko! I slowly sat down on the floor and leaned my back against the cabinet under the sink. I'm.. I'm going to be a dad! I'm not ready for that yet! Or at least I don't think I'm ready yet. We talked about waiting until we got back to Japan until we wanted to start having kids... Is this why she has been quiet? Is this the secret she has been keeping from me? I took a few deep breaths trying to calm myself down. "This can't be happening!", I muttered. I closed my eyes and put my head in my hands. "I'm going to be a dad", I whispered. Momoko is going to be a mom.. The mother to my child. Suddenly my fear started to melt away. Momoko would be a great mother! With her by my side I know I'll be a great dad! We will be great parents! As soon as we get back to Japan we can find an apartment of our own! We can paint the baby's room red with stars or pink with hearts if its a girl! We can buy a nice wooden crib with a matching changing table and dresser! Oh! And a mobile to hang over the baby's crib! We can buy the baby a teddy bear and it can grow up with it! It will be the baby's favorite toy! I can read the baby bed time stories! I can teach it how to walk and talk! Momoko and I can tell our child about all the funny things that happened in our life! Momoko and I will get to watch our child grow up! We will be a family! A family that loves each other and wouldn't keep secrets from each other... Wait momoko kept this secret from me! She didn't tell me! I guess I always pictured her and I waiting for the test results together and when the test said positive I was going to hug her and we'd both cry tears of happiness together... But she took that away from me! She is keeping our child a secret! How long was she going to wait to tell me!? Now I am mad! I'm so upset! We're a team! We do this together! I quickly stood up and ran out of the bathroom. "Momoko!", I yelled as I ran down the stairs. "Huh?", momoko said as she looked up at me. "I thought we were a team?", I said. "What are you talking about?", momoko asked. "This is what I'm talking about!", I said as I held up the pregnancy test. "You found that!", momoko said in shock. "Yes I did! Why didn't you tell me you thought you was pregnant!? I would of waited with you for the results! That's how I always pictured we'd find out about our baby! But no you did it by yourself!", I said in an upset tone of voice. "Brick... I'm not pregnant", momoko said. "What?", I asked. "That's not mine... It's Anna's", momoko said. "What... Your not pregnant? We're not having a baby?", I asked. "No.. We're not", momoko said. Suddenly it felt like some one had just pulled my heart out. Tears began to fill my eyes as I realized I wasn't going to be buying a crib any time soon. "Brick... Are you crying?", momoko asked softly. I couldn't get any words to come out of my mouth. "Aw brick!", momoko said softly as she rushed over to me and pulled me into a hug. I quickly hugged her back. "I... I was so happy.. I thought we was going to be parents! I already started making so many plans for the future!", I said. "I'm so sorry baby", momoko said as she held me tighter. "I thought I was going to be a dad.. And you were going to be the mother of our child.. We was going to be a family", I said. "We will start a family one day brick", momoko said as she rubbed her hand soothingly on my back. "At first I was scared.. I wasn't sure what to think... But then I realized I'd have you by my side and that made me so happy. It made me excited for the baby", I said. "You will be a great dad brick", momoko said. "So.. Anna is going to have a baby?", I asked. "Well no.. She came over the other day. She was so scared and she needed someone to be with her while she took the test. So I waited with her and as you know it said positive.. So after she went home she took another one just to be safe but it was negative. So I told her she needed to go see a doctor. The doctors tested her and all the tests came back negative. She the first test was defective", momoko said. "Oh.. I guess that was for the best.. Anna isn't ready for a baby yet. She doesn't even have a steady boyfriend", I said. "Anna is a great person but I agree. She isn't ready", momoko said. "Hey guys we're home!", asuna called. "Brick! Don't tell any one I told you! It's a secret!", momoko said as she let me go. "I promise. I won't say a word", I said. "Hey guys", kirito said as he walked into the kitchen. I quickly hid the pregnancy test behind my back before kirito could see it. "Hey kirito", I said as I smiled. "The kitchen looks nice", kirito said as asuna walked into the kitchen. "Yeah. Good job guys", asuna said. "Actually momoko cleaned the kitchen by herself", I said. "Well good job momoko", asuna said. "You didn't help her?", kirito asked. "Uh no.. I was actually cleaning the bathroom and well I had a little incident with Gabriel.. He spilled the garbage can. So I just came down here to get the broom", I said. I quickly walked over and grabbed the broom from the cleaning supplies cabinet. "Oh okay.. So what room can we clean?", kirito asked. "Well the laundry room needs mopped so you could start there", momoko said. "Alright", kirito said. "I'll go run the vacuum in the living room", asuna said. "Alright.. I'll see you guys later. I'm going to go finish the bathroom", I said as I turned and started walking towards the stairs

~Momoko's P.O.V~

"You will never guess who came to visit me!", kaoru said. Brick and i are sitting at the small island/bar that is between the living room and kitchen video chatting with kaoru and butch. Asuna and kirito are sitting on the couch behind us watching some kind of cooking show that challenges there contestants to make challenging dishes. Usually we always watch it together but kaoru and butch called us so we're talking to them. "Who?", brick asked. "Dai and nami!", butch said. "Really! How are they!?", brick asked as he smiled. "They're doing really good. They're traveling around America until the start of summer. Then they're going to go back home to Japan", kaoru said. "That's good. I'm so happy that they got married. They are perfect for each other", brick said. "Yeah nami is great. He definitely picked the right girl", butch said. "My whole family loves her. She is always so sweet to every one", kaoru said. "Hey speaking of sweet things.. When are you going to send us more sweets?", butch said. "Yeah!? We need some chocolate chip cookies!", kaoru said as she smiled. "Huh? Oh I'm not sure it might be a long while", I said. "Seriously?", butch asked as he frowned. "Yeah..", I said as I looked down at my hands. "Momoko? Is some thing wrong?", butch asked. "Yeah? You've been really quiet this whole time.. You've barely said 3 whole sentences", kaoru said. "I'm fine", I said. "Wait a minute... You get super quiet when you have a huge secret", kaoru said. "Ohh a secret! She definitely has one!", butch said. "What is it!? Did you already send us sweets!? Are they on they're way in the mail!?, kaoru asked excitedly. "No that's not that big of a secret. She wouldn't act this way over it", butch said. "Ohh!!! I know!! Your getting vacation time soon! Are you two planning a surprise visit!?", kaoru asked excitedly. "What!? N..n.. no way!", I stuttered. My heart was racing. How did I give away the surprise!? I didn't even say a word about it! I quickly looked over at brick, who looked just as panicked as i was. "That's the secret! Isn't it!?", butch asked. "It has to be it! Your face is turning red", kaoru said. "Momoko's pregnant!", brick blurted out. "What!?", kaoru and butch yelled. "What!? Your pregnant!?", kirito asked loudly in surprise. "What the hell momoko!? I'm your closest friend here in LA and your roommate and you didn't even tell me!", asuna said. "Brick!", I yelled as I quickly grabbed him and pushed him off his chair and onto the ground. I quickly sat on the ground next to him. "What the hell!?", I whispered. "I'm sorry! I panicked! I didn't know how to get them to think that us going to visit them wasn't the secret!", brick whispered. "This is crazy! We have to tell them the truth!", I whispered. "We can as soon as we visit them", brick whispered. "Guys get back up here right now!", kaoru yelled. "Go with it! Please!", brick whispered. Brick quickly stood up. "Brick we agreed we would keep it a secret until we told my mother and father!", I yelled as I stood up. "I'm sorry! I couldn't hold back the secret any longer!", brick said. "Momoko! Brick! Are you two seriously having a baby!", butch asked still in shock. "I can't believe you broke the promise! Your such a jerk brick", I said as I started to sob and tears started to roll down my cheeks. "I'm sorry!", brick said as he tried to hug me. "No!", I said as I quickly dodged him and walked out of the cameras view. "Momoko wait! I'm sorry!", brick said as he looked in the direction I had walked in. Asuna and kirito looked at me with shocked faces. I wonder what they're thinking right now? "Hey guys, I'll talk to you later. I gotta go calm miss. Hormonal down before she makes me sleep on the couch tonight", brick said. "Brick wait!", butch said. "Bye! Love you guys!", brick said as he ended the video call and closed the laptop. "Your pregnant!", kirito asked. "No I'm not. My idiot fiancé panicked and told them a terrible lie!", I said as I wiped the fake tears off my face. "Brick that's terrible!", asuna said. "I know.. But I panicked and I didn't know what to do", brick said. "So that was all fake?", kirito asked. "Yeah.. By the way. Good job on crying right on the spot. I know that's hard to do", brick said. "Thanks", I said as I smiled. "But don't worry. We will tell kaoru and butch the truth as soon as we see them", brick said. "You better!", asuna said. "You need to learn better lies brick! What if that would of been her parents?", kirito asked. "Well then I probably wouldn't be they're favorite future son-in-law", brick said. "I still can't believe you did that brick! Do you have any idea how surprised I was!", I said. "I know.. I'm sorry. I kinda surprised myself when I blurted it out", brick said. "I hope they don't tell any one", I said. "Relax. They won't", brick said as he gave me a reassuring smile.
