I did not learn about evil for the purpose of performing that evil,
but in order to protect myself from it and whoever does not know evil from good, then they are surely fall into that evil.
If you want to learn the reality of Tawheed, you have to study the opposite, you have to learn about Shirk.
You cannot truly understand Tawheed until you know the reality of Shirk.
Hudhayfah bin yaman, the famous sahabi may Allah be pleased with him, he said: the Sahaba would ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the good while I used to ask him about the evil out of fear that it will encompass me, in fear that I will fall into it, in fear that it would somehow reach me.
Ibn Al Jawzi mentions in his book, the Devil's Deception: certainly in defining and knowing and coming to know about evil is a form of caution against falling into it.
The purpose of learning the Nullifiers of Islam is so that you can learn about those detours and dangerous things that are on the road, i.e. on your path to Jannah, that will prevent you from reaching Jannah.
He paused reading just as a notification from Pillars app popped up on his lock screen, notifying of the 'Aśr Adhaan.
Closing the pdf and snapping his laptop shut, he leaned back in his chair.
He glanced at the ceiling of his apartment then allowed his gaze to take a tour of the interior. This apartment was even smaller than his old bedroom, with a queen sized bed in the center, a study table and a bathroom. There was a small space enough for a kitchen counter.
He wasn't complaining, he expected far worse than just being ousted from his father's property. Just as this thought came he recieved a call from his mother.
He picked it up.
"Hello mum, how are you?" He said, gently.
"Michael, my child why are you doing this to us? You hid it for one whole year, why couldn't you have hide it forever from us? Look what your confession caused us, look at what it caused you."
Mu'awiyah sighed, it pained him to see the darkness of disbelief within his parents.
A lump appeared in his throat and fighting back the tears from falling, he said quietly, "mum, it caused me nothing except tranquility from despair. For once, just take a step towards Islam, one step out of the darkness is enough for the light of Islam to illuminate your heart. At least sit back and give it a thought, mum. Please"
