Thebes, City of the Living, crown Jewel of Pharaoh SETI the First and his family but also home of his most beloved daughters Nefertiti and Anku-sem.
They were to one day lead Egypt into a new era with Nefertiti as Queen and Anku-sem were gifted and blessed by the great god Anbuis as his chosen.
It was also the Home of Imhotep, Pharaoh's high priest, keeper of the dead, and husband of Anku-sem.
The marriage was arranged, but they did grow to love each other, but all did not last because it was also the birthplace of Anck-Su-Namun, Pharaoh's mistress.

No other man was allowed to touch her...

But for their love or Anck-Su-Namun selfishness, they were willing to risk life itself.

On one such night Anku-sem was visiting her sister Nefertiti to talk about her doubts of Imhotep loyalty to their union and to tell her sister she was with child at last, they walked to the balcony were Nefertiti was congratulating her on her child and asked her to name him something different which she agreed too as they did not nedd another Ramses or Seti when they looked over to their fathers chambers and saw Imhotep kissing Anck-Su-Namun passionately.
Anku-sem was heartbroken and Nefertiti was disgusted at the sight for her sister was one of the most beautiful woman in the whole kingdom and blessed by the gods and he choses a forbidden woman that most did not like.
They were brought out of their thoughts when they saw Imhotep dashing to a hiding spot with some of his priests when they saw their father walk in and Anck-Su-Namun waiting for him, but they could hear him.

"What are you doing here?"

He said, looking at the priests when he carried on walking and frowning, Nefertiti screamed for the Medaji to save the Pharaoh.

"Who has touched you?!"

He screamed in rage when his sword was taken from him and turned around.

"Imhotep?!..........My Priest! You betray me and Anku-sem."

Imhotep just looked at the Pharaoh blanked face, but if you looled closely, you could see the conflict at Anku-sem name, Anck su Namon seeing this went to speak when the door started banging.

"Pharaoh's bodyguards......You must go! Save yourself!"

She says while putting a look of love in her eyes to draw Imhotep to her, which worked.

"No!"

"Only you can resurrect me!"

She said while Imhotep was being dragged away by his priests.

"I won't leave you!.....Get away from me!You shall live again!I will resurrect you!"

He was dragged away, and Anck-Su-Namun turned around and then spoke with a sneer.

"My body is no longer his Temple!"

Anku-sem was devastated her sister in her grief flung herself on the balcony in a false hope to save their father, she saw Anck-Su-Namun kill herself and she knew that she was using Imhotep to bring her back, so she planned to use this against Imhotep.

To resurrect Anck-Su-Namun, Imhotep and his priests broke into her crypt 50 days later and stole her body.
They raced deep into the desert, taking Anck-Su-Namun's corpse to Hamunaptra, City of the Dead, HAMUNAPTRA - 1290 B.C. ancient burial site for the sons of pharaohs and resting place for the wealth of Egypt.

For his love, Imhotep dared the gods' anger by going deep into the city, where he took the black Book of the Dead from it's holy resting place, he knew that Anku-sem would feel the ritual and did what he could to stop his other loves interference. He felt great as shame of what he was doing to her, but he did love Anck-Su-Namun. He had hoped to convince her to run with him and Anck-Su-Namun. He had found out recently that she was with his child and he wanted to be a part of their lives, but he knew that was impossible now.

Imhotep looked at his lover and hoped beyong hope that she was worth losing his Anku-sem for but Anck-Su-Namun's soul had been sent to the dark underworld, her vital organs removed and placed in five sacred Canopic jars.
Anck-Su-Namun's soul had to come back from the dead, he started the ritual and once her soul was back he was about to complete it but Pharaoh's bodyguards had followed lmhotep and stopped him before the ritual could be completed.

He was dragged back to Thebes to stand infront of Pharaoh Ramses who looked at him with hate then he looked and saw a blanked faced but red eye Anku-sem who was cradling her pregnant belly that Imhotep looking longing at before dragging his face away.

"Do you have anything to say for yourself? You traitorous bastard, you murder our Pharaoh and then, by extension of your actions, killed Nefertiti and abandoned your wife and child."

Imhotep had not realised that Nefertiti had died, but he said nothing, which only caused Ramses to rage further.

"Imhotep your priests will be condemned to be mummified alive.
As for you, Imhotep, you will be condemned to endure the Hom-Dai, the worst of all ancient curses."

"No."

Imhotep looked at Ramses in horror then he looked at Anku-sem who looked at Ramses in horror as well but before she could protest she was met with a sharp intake of breath then looked down and saw blood coming from her chest, she looked at Ramses who gave her a sad smile and Imhotep who looked on in horror as the Medaji killed his wife and unborn child screaming at them to stop but when they did she was gone and so was his child, he crawled to her weeping over her body, his screamed of grief were heard through out the whole kingdom at the loss of her and their child.
Ramses then ordered the Medaji to take Imhotep back to Hamunaptra for the ceremony to be preformed and for his sister and her child to be given all proper burial rights so he did not piss off Anbuis any more then he already had.

The Hom-dai is a curse so horrible. It had never before been bestowed.
Imhotep was to remain sealed inside his sarcophagus, be undead for all of eternity.
The Medaji would never allow him to be released, for he would arise a walking disease, a plague upon mankind, an unholy flesh-eater with the strength of ages, power over the sands, and the Glory of invincibility

Imhotep swore as he was being eatting alive that he would make it up to Anku-sem when he was free and bring back their child.
