“This is so pretty, how in the world did you find it?” I asked, looking at the small, stag but yet not smelly pond that Abel lead me too. It was barely a ten minute walk, but because of my ankle it took us at least twenty to get through the sparse trees and high grass. Abel had let me lead the way, giving me directions, as he held one of my hands and let his other hand land on my hip to take some of the pressure off my ankle. He could tell it was hurting me, and knew exactly who had caused it when I refused to give him a straight answer.

“He is such an a**. I mean, I knew he had no trouble kicking people who were down, but actually kicking a girl? It's sort of a new low in my book.” Abel said sarcastically, glaring lightly at me when I tried to brush it off. “Seriously, one of these days I'm just going to snap. I know that sounds horrible, but I'm pretty sure if it was just him and I in a fight I could totally win. But with the entire soccer team backing him up... I don't stand a chance.” Abel said randomly and at the time I had given him a hard look by turning around, stumbling because I wasn't looking where I was going. If Abel's hand hadn't been on my hip I probably would have fallen.

“Don't say those kinds of things. The reason I like you so much is because you have never fought back. It's different when Jamie or I defend you, and if you ever stood up for yourself I would be oh so proud but by stooping to his level and kicking the crap out of him. You'd be just like Chase, and I wouldn't like you as much.” I explained, paying more attention to the UN-level terrain ahead of me, my heart was pounding incredibly hard for some reason. It actually had been for awhile, I just hadn't been able to put a finger on a reason why.

When we had actually got to the tiny pond, I couldn't help but ask him how he ever stumbled upon something so UN-remote. He let go of my waist, because from there the grass had stopped growing so high, and it was a smooth decent into the water, I had actually thought of sticking my feet in but before Abel explained how he had found this place he warned me. “I have never stepped inside that, but I wouldn't if I were you... I know all you New Hampshire folk have to worry about are leeches but here? Alligators tend to make THAT their home.” Immediately I stepped back and turned around to stare and him.

“If there is a possibility of ALLIGATORS LIVING in THIS pond, why in the world would you bring me here?!” I demanded, shuffling closer to him, and Abel laughed.

“In water alligators will kill you easily, but on land they're really slow. We- well I could outrun them. You at the current moment. I might have to carry you...” Abel joked and I couldn't help but eye him semi-dangerously but mostly curiously.

“Who... who ARE you?!” I demanded, trying to understand why Abel was acting this way. This was not his personality. He was quiet, he never talked for so long, let alone take up most of our conversations. Abel's eyes broke from mine and he stared at the grass that had been laid down previously. Probably from his visits here alone.

“I don't know. Ever since last night... I've been thinking..” Suddenly Abel grabbed my hand and dragged me to the ground with him, where we sat under a wilting weeping willow tree (..do those exist in Florida?) and had the best view of this tiny pond.

“Is this the best place for you to explain to me what you've been thinking? I mean, alligator home. I feel like we're harping on their afternoon snack.” I said sarcastically with a smile as I looked down and Abel's pale hand tangled in mine. He probably wasn't as pale as I thought he was, because compared to me everyone was WHITE, but he still only had a slight golden tan. I leaned back into him lightly, not wanting to hurt him, but as I pressed my back into his chest he immediately repositioned so his legs went out around mine, as I sat in between his legs and he curled his arms around me holding both of my hands at my midsection.
