Lavenders

I know lavenders are your favorite flowers
I started giving you a fresh bouquet every week since we started dating
A year passed and I didn't stop
Nor did I on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th...
Even 6th on our wedding day
You carried a bouquet of lavenders that day too
Oh I'll never forget that day
You looked so amazing
And I admired your beauty all throughout the day and night
I didn't even stop giving you lavenders after we got married
On our 30th wedding anniversary
You got hit by a drunk driver
And died.
I think a part of me died too that day.
I buried you with the lavenders you loved so dear
I hope you know I never stopped giving you the lavenders
Even after you passed
I still visit every week with a fresh bouquet
And to update you on my life
I hope you can hear me when I come
Today is our 50th anniversary
I come with a fresh bouquet and this poem for you my dear
I feel as though this will be my last bouquet
I feel that tonight we will reunite
Up in heaven
Or wherever we end up
So my dear
Please wait another few hours
To see me once more.
