A New Set Of Paws: Kara's Story

{ CHAPTER 7 }

Rocky and Kara entered the lookout, and the others sat down watching Apollo the Superpup.

Both seemed saddened. Chase looked over, "Everything.. okay, Rocky?"

"Yeah... we're fine." Rocky said, looking from the floor with sad eyes.

"Wanna.. watch Apollo with us?" Rubble asked softly, concerned.

Rocky glanced to Kara with a worried look. Kara nodded.
"E--everyone.." She whimpered.

All the pups gasped.
'She spoke--t-to us!' Marshall thought. His mouth opened with shock.

"I-I-I'm so s-sorry.. f--for not---I'm.."
Rocky saddened more than spoke, "Her names' Kara. She never told us."

Skye approached, standing a bit closer to the two than Rubble. "Why not? Were you scared that we'd judge you based on your name?" She asked with a tilt of her head.

Kara shook her head, looking to Skye and back to the floor.
"Well.. according to her, she was abandoned by her owners and family. They left her behind." Rocky stated.

"What?!" Chase jolted from a cushion,
"How cold! That's terrible!" Skye barked.
"Poor Kara..." Rubble began to whimper, laying on the ground.

"Yeah. It is cold. Who would abandon their own pup like that?! Your parents must've been terrible!" Rocky turned to Kara. "Well, you're no longer with those terrible parents of yours. You're here with us. And we'll protect you." Skye smiled, giving a sudden hug.

Kara's eyes widened, "woah."
Skye gave a glance to the other pups with a smile. Zuma smiled and ran up to hug her.
The rest, all but Marshall, got into the sweet embrace. Chase took a look to Marshall, who sat a bit far. "Marshall? Everything okay, dude?" Zuma questioned.

"Y--Yeah.."
Marshall got into the hug, snuggling into Kara's chest.

"We're here for you." Skye murmured.
"We'll promise that." Zuma added.
"And treasure it." Rocky whispered.

"Thank you.. e-everyone... th--thank you..."
