17. Whispered affection

"You better stay on alert." Hua tapped on your thighs gently, gaining your attention as you were busy twirling the eyeshadow brush within your fingers. Noticing the confusion, she gestured to you to lean closer.

"Jeonghan seems to be interested." She teased in a whisper as if you both weren't alone in the dressing room.

"Hua!" You slapped her arm lightly, a rosy hue spreading on your cheeks causing her to chuckle. And just then minji entered to gather her things, greeting you with a smile which you returned.

Hua's gaze landed on the door, she couldn't help but smile at the figure walking towards the room.

"The man is literally proving my point." Hua said to herself but audible to your ears. Before you can question her words a knock was heard on the door.

You turned your head towards the man leaning on the doorframe, you didn't want to raise your expectations.

Minji squealed and happily walked towards Jeonghan with a genuine warm smile on her face and started blabbering without paying any heed to whom he was looking at.

"Han, I'll be done in a few minutes-"

"Y/n," The call of your name came out from his lips interrupted Minji, causing her to halt with amusement.

"Let's go. I'm here to pick you up." The sudden service raised your nervousness, not being aware of what he is talking about doesn't help either and minji on the other side couldn't stop glaring at you.

Not like you care about her but still, the last conversation you had with her made you realise one thing and that is — minji is crazy when it comes to jeonghan, she's insanely in love with him

You slide down from the table, standing on your feet, trying to figure out if you should go or not and you almost declined the offer but hua pushed you forward, whispering you to go and that's exactly what you did.

You ended up having dinner with Jeonghan after he pleaded and you couldn't resist his pestering. You both had a great dinner while laughing together over old memories.

And now you're at your favourite spot by the Han River. The soothing sound of the waves and gentle breeze brings a sense of tranquillity and peace to both of you, just like it does to Jeonghan.

"omg really?" You were absolutely amazed by the unforgettable memory that Jeonghan shared with you. It was like a bagel of pure amazement.

"never knew eunhae would do that." You couldn't even imagine someone like Eunhae would unexpectedly lash out at Jeonghan in front of the entire class after you left the country.

"Her reaction was valid. I hurt you a lot." His voice was saddened.

"No matter how many times I apologise, it's not gonna undo the pain I put you through. I was a jerk." He suddenly brought up the past out of nowhere, and as you looked at the dark sky, you felt a mix of emotions.

You didn't want to interrupt him because you could sense that he needed to let out his feelings. So, you decided to lend him your ear and be there to listen, offering him the support he needed.

"I could've talked things out instead of ignoring you like a sick bitch so maybe we couldn't have ended up like this." You could hear the regret in his voice, and he couldn't help but wonder what went wrong.
