My thoughts fill my head as I step out of the truck and begin walking into the base door

Memories of interactions with the worst guards come back to me.

I practically remember every guard i killed, but when I think back the numbers aren't adding up to the amount of guards I should've eliminated

Wait a minute

"It's good to have you back Adira"
Alejandro gives me a nod once we step inside

"You did very good out there. I'm impressed"
Soap said with a smile

"You sure about that? I practically almost killed myself. I would say I did decent"

"Everyone almost gets themselves killed. You put yourself in the line of fire all the time, it's the job. Don't worry about it"

"Alright"
I reply

"If y'all don't mind I'm gonna go take a shower. It's late and I look like a homeless person"

"Go ahead adira. Get some sleep after"
Price says and turns to ghost who appeared to want to ask him a question

I slow my pace down to try and hear what
he says

"You think she'll hold up?"
Ghost asks price

"She's tougher than you think. Go get some sleep it.

I quicken my pace down the hallway to avoid the thought of him assuming I was listening.
I was, but he doesn't need to know that.

Once I enter my room, I head straight to the bathroom and turn on the water. I begin taking my clothes off and taking my hair down. Of course, I dread my eyes to meet my own in the mirror, but i do so anyway

I haven't smelt or looked this dirty in a while, but missions will do that to you no matter how long the objective is. Or in my case, getting abducted and spending four days in a prison cell, half of that being in a double guarded cage

It's fair to say I never want to indulge myself with that amount of stress, anger, and guilt again, but I will in a heartbeat to save my teams life

I push my thoughts back to clear my crowded mind and step into the shower. I continue the same routine as usual and wash my body

I jerk my head to the bathroom door from the unexpected noise of my bedroom door opening, followed by the sound of the lock

Price and Ghost both know I'm taking a shower, but there's no reason my door should be opening anyway. Right when it gets quiet, I easily recognize the footsteps against my wooden floor which leaves me relieved
yet frustrated

It's Ghost. Ghost is the one who is now walking to my bathroom door, that two knocks eventually come across it

"Yes?"
I manage to get out

"I need to talk with you"

"This is really not the time Ghost"
I laugh awkwardly
